It’s been another 2 weeks and the Tennessee garden continues to flourish. I may not do too many more of these posts (of my garden), because the point was really to show our friends in Haiti and give them the opportunity to ask questions given that we’re experimenting with some things that may be helpful to them. Such as: companion planting, using soil from a dried river bed, training plants to grow “up” on trellis or stakes with string, and rotating crop to add nutrients back into the soil using other plants. Everyone under the BMK organization already has a garden or has interest in starting one. Who knows, maybe you’ll find it helpful too.

Anyway, the companion planting is going surprisingly well. It’s still early June, so hopefully it’ll continue to work just as well during July and August. So far, we’ve had almost no bugs. I did find squash bug eggs on one squash plant, but I pulled those leaves and I’ll plant more mint and oregano closer to that row to see if it will keep them away. And sometimes I see where another bug took a few bites from my broccoli and collard green leaves. But they don’t stay long. They leave before I can find them leaving very little damage on the plant. But the true test will be late summer.

For the past 3 days, we’ve harvested 1-2 bags of squash, cucumber, zucchini (per day) and some jalapeño peppers, green peppers, and banana peppers. The tomato’s are taking longer than I expected, but they are growing. I’ll add a little powered egg shells for additional calcium to see what it does. The beans and egg plant are growing at the expected rate. But I definitely have some dehydrating and canning to do because I could never eat this much on my own. Canning and dehydrating is another thing that’s new to Haiti. It’s how we preserve our food so that it can last for years. I may document this process for them to see. I’m not sure yet. It would be nice to show them how to save food for when growing is not an option (ie: dry season). But then again, if there is not enough food, then there is nothing to preserve. Much to think about.

It’s been only 10 days but the garden has grown a lot. I was just saying how everything looks perfect and a few days later we found some cabbage worms, a few hornworms, and caterpillars. I picked them all off by hand, but I check 2-3 times a day to make sure they don’t return. But I did add more herbs that repel bad garden bugs, and a few sacrifice flowers. Some bugs prefer the flowers, so they will eat them instead of the vegetable plants. So we’ll try that for now. But… Jimmie noticed that we have whole lot of frogs in our backyard and suggested that I put some in the garden to eat the bugs. I thought that was an interesting suggestion, so I did some research and found out it was a great suggestion. Apparently they hide under the plants where it’s shady and wet and then eat the bugs that they can reach. So I guess I’ll put gloves on and make a nice little frog habitat. 🤢 Stay tuned. lol

So today I decided to take pictures and a video (in first comment) of my newly planted garden to show the guys in Haiti. The point of doing this is to show them that we do the same things that we ask them to do. We even experiment a little and share our successes and failures. We’re learning too, and when things don’t work out, we adapt and more forward. Giving up is not an option. For example, we’ll be adding companion plants (flowers and herbs) to help control the bugs that kill and damage plants instead of chemicals. And last year the garden was less than successful because the ground was mostly clay and rocks. So this year we removed all the rocks and introduced soil from a dry river bed and tilled that into our garden. Haiti has a lot of dry river beds. So if it works out, then we’ll take soil samples from Haiti’s dry river beds and send them off to the University of Tennessee to be tested. The last thing we want to do is assume their dry river beds are free of contaminates. If the water was bad, then the soil could be too… although, the research suggests otherwise. So I think it’ll be safe to use, but we’ll test it anyway.

I sure miss the days where I would go out and check on my garden first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee in hand, only to look across they way and see my neighbor checking on her garden, in her pj’s and coffee in hand. I got updated photos and videos from Johnky in Cange showing the progress of the garden at the church. They planted tomatoes and peppers a couple months ago. And they are looking great.

All three of our gardens are doing wonderful. The garden in Cange to feed the children at the church that’s managed by Johnky and his father (the Pastor), the widows garden managed by Frido , and the garden Jocelyn started in Bohoc to help feed families struggling the most. We’re so proud of all three of them. Their gardens are growing strong and producing well. Yes, there were some things they didn’t go as planned, but they pushed on and never gave up. And God is blessing them and their communities because of it. Thank you Lord!

Good afternoon all. I just thought I’d share some new updates. The 4 ladies from Texas (aka The Texas Team or G.R.I.T.) had a productive visit with everyone. We’re so thankful that God got them there a back with no issues. They did a great job making daily updates and posts to Facebook for all to see. I’m so thankful for all they did in such a short time. So many were blessed because they came and poured their heart and soul. Needs were met and prayers went up! You can’t ask for much better than that. And a big thank you to Jean Francois for his part in this. He was instrumental and a blessing as always. They all worked tirelessly. Including Wilnot and Gardy who didn’t leave their side.

Below are some additional things that happened on the Behold My King side that didn’t get posted. We sent 4 complete Starlink Systems to Haiti to help with the connectivity issues in a number of areas. Jocelyn, Frido, and Pastor Wilnot received one, with the 4th being reserved for the BMK Guesthouse that we hope will be built in the very near future. These devices will help so many and not just the BMK members. I sent Jocelyn and Ludmie several very large boxes of new children’s clothing. They divided them between Behold My King, the Church in Cange, and Haitian Hope. We provided Frido’s widows with hygiene bags, blankets, and common over the counter medications. They received them during the widows lunch. Jocelyn harvested vegetables from the BMK garden and provided them to local families in need. A family of 4 that included two malnourished boys (one more than the other), and their pregnant mother and father was provided food for a month. Two widows were sent to the emergency room. One was involved in a bad motorcycle accident with 3rd or 4th degree burns to his ankle and lower leg and a serious laceration to one hand. Infections in both wounds. And the other widow has something protruding from her neck. She’s in a great deal of pain and has difficulty breathing and swallowing. It’s the strangest thing I’ve ever seen.

Final note: the plan (God willing) will be to return to Haiti in middle May, where I’ll be accompanied by my daughter Stephanie Stack. I’m soooooo excited to have her join me. This trip will be a little different with most of our time spent in meetings with the entire Team to talk about the long and short term goals for the remainder of 2026 and 2027. We’ll be looking at some land that we’d like to purchase (for the guesthouse) and discuss a building plan. Visit the widows garden. If the roads are passable, we’ll make a trip to Cange to see the church property, the garden, well, etc. Spend some time with Pastor Norius Jean, his family and all those we’ve helped in the congregation and surrounding area. And spend time with our Evangelists Johnky and Djoncy. They both have their own ideas for ministry growth that they’d like to share with us. And of course, I’ll be looking for opportunities to minister to anyone who will listen. So to summarize: this will be more of a business trip with meetings, food and fellowship, and looking for open doors to minister to the locals. We are not coming with gifts or party plans. All that happened last week in my absence.

We are still seeking donations to help with this trip. The goal is $3,000. Any amount will greatly help with MFI flights, a rental car in Haiti, lodging, meals, etc. Unfortunately some of what was paid in advance for the trip I planned to be part of last week is non refundable. And I’m still fighting with the airlines on refunds for all 4 flights that didn’t happen. They only want to give “credits” that will expire before I can use them all. So fighting for refunds. But I’m doing a two day bake sale just before Easter hoping to raise some of it. Any thing left over will be used for beds to help get our widows off the floor. Prayers appreciated.

Today we mourn the loss of Jonas Marcelin (aka Tijo). He was only 55. He is the uncle to Johnky Jean, who does street ministry in Cange. Tijo unexpectedly passed away on February 20th, but the service and burial was today. He was loved by all, especially his mother who is quite literally “inconsolable”. Every picture shared with her in it shows her wailing and crying because of her level of grief. If you would, please pray hard for her. I spoke with Johnky’s mother who confirmed she’s been inconsolable since the 20th. Hopefully his mother will remember soon that he was a Christian and he loved Jesus, so he’s not really gone. She will see him again, praise God! Prayers for her please.

Behold My King wants to wish everyone a Happy New Year. We have so much to be thankful for. We survived 2025 and hopefully made a positive impact where we could. First, we’d like to thank God, because none of this was possible without him. We’d like to thank our sponsors who were faithful to the call and acted on it. Trust me when I say, you made a difference. We love each and every one of you.

Thankful for all the people in Haiti who work as hard as they do. For Pastor Wilnot for leading so many to Christ. And for preaching to as many churches as he could all year long. And for evangelizing in his community to those who cant come to church or haven’t heard the gospel. We’re so thankful for every soul what was won to the Lord. God is good!!!

To Jocelyn for being “my feet” on the ground and doing all I ask him to. He never says no. He works so hard and never asks for anything. He quiet and doesn’t need to be seen. But we know… and the Lord knows how hard he works. God has big plans for you and your wife.

For Frido who cares so deeply for the widows. There are 30 in his care now. They would be lost without him. For all the sweat and tears that he put into the widows garden. He isnt paid… he also does it for the Lord. He sacrificed so much for them. They come to him for all their needs. And if you didn’t know, Frido is also a leader in Praise and Worship at his church. He can sing!!! Another very busy man.

For Djoncy for taking on the role of a Street Minister (evangelist). He has a love for children and sharing the Word of God. He’s very active in his church.

For Johnky for also being a faithful Street Minister and for helping his father - Pastor Norius Jean. Johnky also takes care of the church garden, feeds the children and is a full time student. This is his last year before graduating.

As I go through the pictures attached, I’m reminded that this is just some of what we were involved in. There were a lot of people we fed, provided medical attention, roofs that were replaced or patched. Children received an education, a few were hospitalized and had surgery. Some we loved were buried this year and are now in heaven with the Lord. We dug a few wells. Supplied audio bibles and hard copies. Helped people from Mirebalais with food and housing. And there were so many more that we were unable to help. The need there is truly overwhelming. There are other projects that we started that I’m not at liberty to share yet. Those updates will have to wait until my trip to Haiti on March 17th. More on that soon.

My point is, each of you played a vital role. Even if only through prayer. Thank you, thank you, thank you! And God bless you.

Praise God… the well and pump in Cange is complete and fully functional. It took forever but finally got done. We’re excited and the church and surrounding community is happy. Im so glad Jocelyn aas able to see it to completion.

And the widows garden is progressing well. After a section of the garden was tilled, they moved the tiny cabbage plants from the “nursery” to the actual garden. It’ll be fun to watch it grow. Frido is doing a great job.

School fundraising is coming to an end. We hope to have almost everyone sponsored by the end of the week. If you still plan on sponsoring but have not sent funds, be sure to reach out to Wilnot so that he’s aware.
