Spiritual Direction: Tasha Roraback

Spiritual Direction: Tasha Roraback Certified Spiritual Director: meeting one-on-one in person & online I started meeting with a director and it was (and still is) transformative.

After working in full-time ministry for 15 years, I realized the need for spiritual direction. Because of the impact it has had on my own life, I am now a certified spiritual director. If you're curious or have questions, I am here to help. Whether it's meeting with you for a consultation, providing resources or referrals, don't hesitate to reach out.

The Heart of Spiritual Direction: A Poem πŸ’›
by Kasey Hitt

Hospitality
is the heart of Spiritual Direction

A holy welcome saying,
"Your soul is safe here."

Free of judgement or agenda
Suspending disbelief and storylines

Creating space
at the Table within

for the wild, unpredictable Spirit
Who certainly knows you

better than I know you, and even
better than you know yourself

Who has always been
and yet is always being sent

To companion, comfort, heal,
grow, and guide

Helping you notice and taste
goodness and truth

in, around, and through you
That you may learn to trust

(maybe be surprised by!)
your experience

and the invitations of
this Inner Voice of Love

Who brings good fruit
from the Wisdom Tree

to the celebration of
your Authentic Presence

who knows what you need
in this moment

at the Table
of Divine Nourishment.

Here's a centering & calming prayer practice that I do myself.

If you're new to this, take a moment wherever you are, pause, close your eyes, and slowly breathe in and out a few times. A common phrase to help take deep breaths is "Smell the flowers and blow out the candles." Say/breathe your prayer several times and notice what happens within you.

Here are some examples:
𝘐𝘯𝘩𝘒𝘭𝘦 (𝘴𝘒𝘺 𝘰𝘢𝘡 𝘭𝘰𝘢π˜₯ 𝘰𝘳 𝘡𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘢𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧):
O, God
𝘌𝘹𝘩𝘒𝘭𝘦 (𝘴𝘒𝘺 𝘰𝘢𝘡 𝘭𝘰𝘢π˜₯ 𝘰𝘳 𝘡𝘰 𝘺𝘰𝘢𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧):
Let me know your peace

𝘐𝘯𝘩𝘒𝘭𝘦:
Your strength
𝘌𝘹𝘩𝘒𝘭𝘦:
Is enough for me

𝘐𝘯𝘩𝘒𝘭𝘦:
You go before me
𝘌𝘹𝘩𝘒𝘭𝘦:
And You follow me

𝘐𝘯𝘩𝘒𝘭𝘦:
Nothing can separate me
𝘌𝘹𝘩𝘒𝘭𝘦:
From Your love

𝘐𝘯𝘩𝘒𝘭𝘦:
Prepare my heart
𝘌𝘹𝘩𝘒𝘭𝘦:
To walk with You

𝘐𝘯𝘩𝘒𝘭𝘦:
Open my eyes
𝘌𝘹𝘩𝘒𝘭𝘦:
Help me to see You

I'd love to hear if this was helpful and any thoughts about this form of prayer πŸ’œ

2025, you're a bit of a doozy so far if I'm going to be honest.

Here are some ways to observe Lent this year, whether it's your first time doing so or not. Pick just a few things - keep it simple because 2025 is not. But we can still find hope in the midst ✨

One practice for each day of Lent from Sarah Bessey

Hey! First, let me answer a common question: What is spiritual direction?

It's time devoted to meeting with another person to help you notice the movements of God in your life. A director (or also known as a spiritual companion) is there to deeply listen without an agenda. It's also a place of discernment, asking and exploring more of your own faith, and learning new practices to connect with God.
We live in a world trying to lull us to sleep & distract us, but in the quiet with the Lord is where we can begin to wake up. And spiritual direction welcomes and invites that.
