Ministry Moment :
This past weekend, I served as a Mime Facilitator, and honestly, it wasn’t what I expected. At first, only two young ladies showed up. Later, two more came, and eventually a young boy named Justin walked in late saying, “I can dance, but I’ve never mimed before.”
Now anyone who has all daughters… I’m praying for you 😂 because teaching young ladies was definitely new territory for me. But God reminded me that ministry is bigger than comfort zones.
What started as a situation that could’ve frustrated me became a lesson in patience, leadership, and representation. I’m very structured when it comes to timing and ministry, so things not going according to plan tested me. There was a 2-hour gap, unexpected changes, and only one hour left for Justin to learn everything before the major rehearsal at 3:45pm
He was nervous, but I encouraged him anyway.
And when it was time for the event… he did his thing.
Afterward, I told him, “Proud of you, man. You didn’t quit.”
That moment reminded me: sometimes God throws curveballs not to break your rhythm, but to reveal your heart. As leaders, teachers, and ministers, people are watching more than our gift they’re watching our spirit. One bad reaction could’ve discouraged those kids from ever wanting to mime again.
Ministry is not just about performance; it’s about how we handle people while carrying the gift.
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.” 1 Peter 4:10
Your gift isn’t only meant to impress people. It’s meant to guide, encourage, and represent God well to others.
