We are excited to let everyone know that we are finally finished with Phase One of the St. Mary
Church Heritage Library, Slovenian Museum and Genealogy Center.
Originally started as the Gornick Slovenian Library and Genealogy Center, it is now being lovingly restored.
With the permission of Father Joel, 15 months ago we began the monumental task of
cleaning. sorting, and preserving artifacts, documents, photos, records, books and many old,very precious and priceless items. This mountain of treasures had been neglected for many years and there was the risk of loss and damage following the passing of the original curators, Bernice Krasovec and Bob Blazich.
Our truly amazing and hard-working group of volunteers has done an outstanding job preserving our history and our memories.
The next massive ventures, (Phase 2 and 3) which are already under way, are the St. Mary's
Church history and our library and genealogy research area.
We are hoping for continued successful and wonderful results with these projects. This is a daunting effort but we know it will be worth it. There is so much valuable information contained in the space, it simply must be saved.
The museum display of artifacts is ready for viewing and full of wonderful memories. We
hope that folks can come, view and reminisce in our little corner of the world.
We are located inside the old St. Mary's
School at 211 E. Mesa in Pueblo, Colorado.
