"Historical Princeville Cemetery Volunteer Clean-up Group Set For June 15th"
Recently a group of concerned citizens and residents of Nash/Edgecombe came together to address the current cosmetic appearance of the Historical Township's Cemetery of Princeville (The Oldest African American Settlement in North America-settled in 1865 and chartered in 1885).
We need your help. We are looking for at least 100 bodies to assist us with this enormous task. If you can join us, please hit the like button and we will add you to our list.
The group is headed up by local Princeville native, Milton Bullock and his devoted group of volunteers, who are ready to start the clean-up project scheduled for June 15. The plan is to meet at the Greenwood Heights Community Center (beside the Princeville Cemetery) located on N.C. Hwy 111. Work is scheduled for to begin from 7:30 a.m. til noon.
This is an open-invitation for volunteers (near and afar) being extended to all who have relatives, friends and family members RIP in the Legendary Historical Cemetery to come and take a part in this community-memorial-civic mission. This being a Tri-County wide and beyond project; it would be presumed that there are family connections that may have been lost or merely forgotten. So joining this project would give the surviving family members and friends an opportunity to locate, to pay respect to their beloved lost ones by supporting this much needed civic "Clean-up Project."
The plan is to do it in phases-which will be discussed on site. Our main objective is to keep it SAFE, very simple and most effective. We're going to need the general support of any and everyone concern to experience a successful mission. We ask you to come and bring your 'W**d Eaters' and 'Push Mowers'--experienced Riding Mowers are welcome-fuel will be provided. KAB {Keeping America Beautiful} District Coordinator Ms. Cornelia Anthony will provide gloves, rakes and large bags to bag-up grass cuttings and trash. We plan on coordinating various Detail-TEAMS of those volunteers that show-up. Debris will be pickedup & hauled away, courtesy service of Edgecombe County. To make the process as smooth as possible, PLEASE come with a willing-mind, dressed for the occasion.
