Hello Friends of the Jewish Community of Or Atid,
Hope you’re all having a lovely week.
I’m looking forward to seeing you at services this coming Friday evening at Unity and I’m thrilled to let you know that Dr David Bryman, our newest member to join the Or Atid Community, will be accompanying the service on guitar. I’m so excited for you to hear the beautiful music he makes. Please join us and welcome him. Hope to see you all on Shabbat.
I just have a few reminders for you this week.
Please remember to RSVP for the Seder on April 5th. I will be sending out the invitation again next week but if you know that you are planning to join us, please let me know as soon as possible. Simply email me.
On Sunday the 2nd of April I will be making matzah balls for our Seder chicken soup in my kitchen. If anyone would like to help me, Id love to have your company and assistance. Please contact me if you can join in and roll a couple dozen matzah balls. ☺
On Monday the 13th of March at 10AM, all those who are on board to help with the Passover Seder on April 5th at the Phippin Museum, please meet at the Porch Café . If you want to help but cannot make it at that time, please call me and I’ll happily give you a task over the phone. THANK YOU!!!!!
Having joined the Chamber of Commerce in Prescott we are invited to attend many wonderful events that they host. On March 16th there will be a networking event that could help get our communities visibility. If anyone would like to join me as an ambassador of our great Or Atid community, please join me for fun evening. Just call me! Thursday March 16th . I have to get you registered so please call soon.
Join us at The Prescott Resort and Conference Center
This is one of the Prescott Chamber's more relaxing networking events. These mixers provide a unique opportunity to build professional connections, meet fellow Chamber Members and develop soft-touch skills. There will be a short announcement to welcome all attendees and then the networking begins. Plan on staying late, we usually have a drawing of prizes for all attendees.
Sunday March 12th, LETS TALK TACHLESS, at Rabbi Julies home at 2pm
Tachless is a Yiddish word which means “essence” or “purpose”. In colloquial American English, the best translation would be along the lines of “give it to me straight”.
Here’s the issue, we live at a time where many of our children are outwardly and proactively abandoning the Jewish ways by which we raised them. It’s a confusing and painful experience for a parent to lose to one’s children, an identity variable that has meant so much to us in our own lives. I hear this hurt and sadness all the time.
Here’s the tachless, there are cogent reasons that our children have abandoned their Jewish path. The path ran out of direction for the life of many of our kids. Let’s come together to discuss not only why this has happened but how we can gently influence them to see Judaism from another perspective.
This talk can empower you to understand why and then to see how you can continue to share a part of you that has so much meaning in your life, in a way that may reach them in theirs.
This topic is also interesting for our young families for this is the way of the world today and being able to see why the kids are leaving can help lay the groundwork in a way that will make it more meaningful for them to want to stay. Join us for a better understanding and a gentle way forward.
Please let Rabbi know that you plan to are join in.
This Thursday the 9th of March, our Spiritual Judaism class continues. Please join us at 1pm at the Porch café.
I wanted to thank a few folks for offering to help out in the Or Atid virtual office. Ken Thomas is working on getting us seen on a google search which is huge for us and so appreciated. Janelle Thomas and Ashley Natress are helping to set up a Public page where everyone looking for a community can find us. Emily Grotta is always busy behind the scenes working on the website and updating it ( and running off to Costco to buy gefilte fish and matzah☺). We are now in the process of expanding our reach to get our Or Atid name on our domain. I am so grateful for all of their efforts on behalf of Or Atid. Thank you all so much. You are greatly appreciated.
I am still looking for a few helpers,
Someone who can help me get situated on Instagram.
Someone to organize challah rotation for services on Friday nights.
Someone who would be able to help organize the Sowing the Seeds program for next year.
Thank you everyone for being such devoted members of this Community, you are all appreciated and loved.
Rabbi Julie
