Hello Friends,
It’s that time of year. What time? Autumn? approaching holidays? Well, yes, but it’s also the time of year when many people are cleaning out closets, cabinets, garages, and toy boxes. Much of that “clean out” makes its way to the Care Closet donation shed. We get literally tons of donations, and sometimes we must lock the shed because we don’t have space for more. When that happens, please be patient; we’ll unlock the shed as soon as we can clear space.
We do need donations to provide for our clients; however, we find it necessary to post some basic guidelines about what we can and cannot accept.
First, we cannot accept furniture, appliances, large electronics, plumbing and electrical fixtures (such as faucets, light fixtures, ceiling fans) and sports uniforms and cleats.
We do accept clothing, footwear, purses, backpacks, luggage, bedding, baby items, home decor, cookwear, dishes, cutlery, small kitchen appliances, books, puzzles, toys, stuffed animals, holiday items, and unopened, unexpired food items.
Please do not donate dirty, stained, or torn clothing, coats with broken zippers, footwear caked in mud or animal waste, items covered in pet hair, items with missing parts, and broken or unsafe items. We cannot clean or repair items and our clients deserve a selection of decent goods. Keywords for all donations are: Clean and Serviceable.
We ask that all donations be in bags or boxes that are easily lifted and carried. Please, please avoid extremely heavy contents. It’s especially helpful if items are neatly folded and not on hangers. Place all donations inside the shed in front of the Care Closet. Please do not leave them outside or at the church.
Thank you for your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines which will help us to provide our clients with a wide selection of good quality items. We greatly appreciate our community’s generous support of the First Baptist Church Care Closet.
