Happy Spring, everyone! Oklahoma Spring seasons always bring a mix of weather - warm and sunny, cold and rainy, windy. And those tornadoes - we don’t want those! But the beauty of Spring is evident everywhere. Cheery yellow flowers, redbud and pear trees in bloom, the beautiful new green color in the grass, trees budding with new leaves. Don’t you love it! God faithfully gives us the gift of beauty in seasonal changes. Let’s thank Him!

Here’s a reminder that Friday, March 13th, is the second Friday of the month, so that means it’s Care Closet day. Come see us from 9:30 til noon. We will be phasing out our winter clothing in preparation for restocking with warm weather clothing next month. We will have a bag of food too, so come see us.

We love you all and look forward to seeing you.

Attention Care Closet friends: we will be open on Friday, Feb 13th, from 9:30 until noon. We hope to see you then. There’s a very high chance of rain that day and it will be chilly so please dress accordingly. We will have lots more coats, jackets, hoodies, and sweaters to help you through the remainder of winter. Sadly, it isn’t over yet. But Spring is coming!

It’s February, the month of love. ❤️ Actually there are no boundaries on love. And long before the historical figure of Valentine, Jesus came to this earth to prove God’s love for all of mankind. He paid the ultimate price of love by giving His life for our sins. Most everyone has heard John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” Have you heard “We love, because He first loved us” 1 John 4:19? Love is only possible because of God. He tells us to love Him, to love others, and that love never fails. He reminds us what real love is in 1 Corinthians 13. In fact, the Bible is filled with words of instructions and reminders about love. From beginning to end, it’s a love story! So while Valentine’s Day can be a day of fun parties or a day of romantic dinners, let’s remember the source of true love and live it out by loving our families, our neighbors, our co-workers, and yes, even our enemies.

It’s the Christmas season! Are you shopping for that perfect gift? Or hoping for one?

There is a perfect gift that no amount of money can buy. It’s the most valuable, amazing gift one could ever receive. You can’t buy it. You can’t earn it by being “good”. But everyone can have this gift and everyone should want it. It’s the gift of salvation. The gift that Jesus Christ came to this earth to give to mankind. He left the splendor of heaven and entered this broken, dark, sinful world to give his life as a sacrifice for us because we are all sinners deserving of eternal death. God accepted His Son’s death as payment in full for our sins. Jesus died on a cruel Roman cross, then He arose from death and by His resurrection, we can have glorious, eternal life with Him in a paradise beyond our imagination. The gift of salvation means a pardon for our offenses against Almighty God. It means freedom from the sentence of death that we deserve. That gift is free and it’s yours through faith in Christ, by the grace and mercy of God. Have you accepted it?

Hello everyone,

In this time of year 🍁 🍂 when we are reminded to be thankful, many people find that the hardships of life overshadow gratitude. We understand that at this time, many are worried about being laid off from a job or having their wages reduced, or losing benefits that help buy food. Others are struggling with illness or family problems and other troubles. We are praying for you! We love our community and pray for the God of all blessings to heal and comfort you, and to provide your needs and sustain you through life’s difficulties.

The Bible gives us reasons for gratitude and joy in spite of our circumstances. One of my favorite promises is in Isaiah 41:10, which says, “Do not fear for I am with you; do not be dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Imagine the God of all creation personally present with you, helping you as He holds you in His hand, reminding you not to be afraid because He’s got you. That’s cause to be joyful!

Another scripture tells us, “Because of the Lord’s great love, we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning. Great is your faithfulness.” Lamentations 3:22-23. How good our Lord is!He loves each of us beyond our imagination and cares deeply for us. And He is so very faithful! He knows our desperate need for mercy and He gives us a fresh supply every day. Don’t underestimate God or lose hope!

There is no end to God’s giving. The most precious and valuable gift He has given us is His Son, Jesus. We are sinners in need of a rescue from the wages of our sin - death. Jesus paid the price for us, by giving His life and taking the punishment we deserve - God’s wrath. If you believe that Jesus died for you, was buried and raised back to life, and you’ve put your trust in him to save you, then you’ve received the best gift ever. You have eternal life and every spiritual blessing God has to give, Ephesians 1:3. If you’re unsure about salvation or how to attain it, we can help. Comment to this post or contact the church at (405) 567-9946. It would be our privilege to visit with you.

I hope you’ll think about choosing joy and finding reasons to be thankful in this season. Life is tough but we have a God who loves us and won’t leave us without His help.

We at the Prague First Baptist Church Care Closet look forward to serving those in need in our community on the second Friday of each month, which is coming up on Nov 14th, from 9:30 until noon. While we can’t provide a Thanksgiving dinner, we will provide some staples and some items that can be used for your holiday meal. We also know that some people may still need winter clothing. Don’t wait any longer to look through our supply of good used coats and other items.

Happy Thanksgiving, friends and neighbors! Let’s be thankful for the Lord’s blessings and find ways to extend that gratitude to others.

Hello Friends,

It’s that time of year. What time? Autumn? approaching holidays? Well, yes, but it’s also the time of year when many people are cleaning out closets, cabinets, garages, and toy boxes. Much of that “clean out” makes its way to the Care Closet donation shed. We get literally tons of donations, and sometimes we must lock the shed because we don’t have space for more. When that happens, please be patient; we’ll unlock the shed as soon as we can clear space.

We do need donations to provide for our clients; however, we find it necessary to post some basic guidelines about what we can and cannot accept.

First, we cannot accept furniture, appliances, large electronics, plumbing and electrical fixtures (such as faucets, light fixtures, ceiling fans) and sports uniforms and cleats.

We do accept clothing, footwear, purses, backpacks, luggage, bedding, baby items, home decor, cookwear, dishes, cutlery, small kitchen appliances, books, puzzles, toys, stuffed animals, holiday items, and unopened, unexpired food items.

Please do not donate dirty, stained, or torn clothing, coats with broken zippers, footwear caked in mud or animal waste, items covered in pet hair, items with missing parts, and broken or unsafe items. We cannot clean or repair items and our clients deserve a selection of decent goods. Keywords for all donations are: Clean and Serviceable.

We ask that all donations be in bags or boxes that are easily lifted and carried. Please, please avoid extremely heavy contents. It’s especially helpful if items are neatly folded and not on hangers. Place all donations inside the shed in front of the Care Closet. Please do not leave them outside or at the church.

Thank you for your cooperation in adhering to these guidelines which will help us to provide our clients with a wide selection of good quality items. We greatly appreciate our community’s generous support of the First Baptist Church Care Closet.

Care Closet friends, I almost forgot to post a reminder about being open this Friday, Oct 10th. So consider this your reminder. 😊
We will be open our usual time from 9:30 until noon.

We have lots of odds and ends to give away as well as clothing and a bag of food. Come enjoy the fellowship with other clients and a beautiful Fall morning.

Hello Care Closet friends,

Here we are in September already. Wasn’t it just January the other day? The summer seems to have slipped by so quickly, perhaps because we’ve had a fairly mild one this year. I, for one, am super happy about that. While I enjoy the beauty of Spring and Summer, I think Autumn is extra special, don’t you? 🍁

As usual, we are open the 2nd Friday of the month, which is this Friday, Sep 12th. We are open from 9:30 until noon. Just a reminder, we use a number system for serving clients. When you arrive, take a number and it will be called in order. We serve everyone as efficiently as we can but you may have a bit of a wait. Please be patient.

We appreciate our regular clients and ask that you share the word about the Care Closet ministry. We want people to know about us and the days we serve. God has blessed us with generous people who donate resources to keep this ministry going and we want to share that blessing with others in the community who need a little assistance.

Come see us this Friday. We’ll have clothing and groceries and we’ll also put out some boxes of Christmas items.

Many blessings to all. And know this: Jesus loves you!

Howdy everyone,

Here it is August already and the clock is ticking toward the first day of school. How quickly the summer has rolled by! Next season up is Autumn 🍂 🍂, my favorite.

The Care Closet will be open this Friday, August 8th, from 9:30 until noon. Yes, it will be hotter than a chile pepper 🌶️ later in the day but the morning hours won’t be so bad. Don’t let the heat keep you from coming!

We plan to get an early start on preparing for the cool mornings (which aren’t that far away) by making coats, sweatshirts, and hoodies available. We also have jeans,👖 jeans, 👖 and more jeans 👖 in various sizes. We still have a selection of summer clothing as well, so come and choose what you need. A bag of groceries will be provided as always.

We’re so grateful for the blessing of the Care Closet. We have some generous families at the First Baptist Church who donate meat, food, and money which in turn blesses many families in our community. The Lord is good and provides abundantly!
