AS IS Church

AS IS Church This simply is not true! The bible tells us that God demonstrated His love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Rom 5:8).

AS IS Church - Wednesday nights:

5 PM community workout
6 PM family dinner
6:30 PM family groups (kids, youth and adult worship and adult Bible study)

740 SE 182nd Portland, Oregon 97233 Why call a church “As Is?" Because that’s how God accepts each and every one of us: “As Is”

We believe God desires relationship with people but they think they need to get their act together before they ca

n approach Him (or be part of a church). That means while we were out getting loaded, drunk, sleeping around, acting prideful, judging others, stealing, lying, living in fear, and all that – Christ died for us “As Is”. Similar to someone buying used car (you know we’re all like used cars, not in the original condition) off of an 82nd Ave car lot – Jesus paid the price for us (1 Cor. 6:19-20, 7:22-23). His life was given as a ransom for our souls. Our response is to receive His gift, “As Is”, and sign the title of our lives over into His name. That’s when He begins the restoration project! He rebuilds the motor of our hearts and renews our minds (Rom. 12:1-2). He straightens out the alignment of our lives (Psalm 119:105). He wrote the owner’s manual instructing us on how to live, manage, and thrive in a broken and hurting world (Bible). When He takes ownership it changes everything! He transforms us – from the inside out! We appreciate your prayerful support for the upcoming launch of “As Is” Community Church. Our target area will be North/Northeast Portland. We’ll begin worship services early next year. There will be an informational meeting in January. Let me know if you’d like more information. Join us for this amazing journey! God is good! In Him,

Scott

This is what community looks like.

Wednesday Family Night is back and this week the whole church shows up together. Start with a workout at 5:00, sit down for dinner at 6:00, then split into age specific groups at 6:30 for kids, youth, and adults.

First Wednesday of the month means the adults serve. And that is exactly what this community does best.

See you tonight.

Tonight is for the next generation.

Tuesday night Bible study is open for middle and high schoolers from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. Light dinner, real conversations, and separate groups for guys and girls led by people who actually care about where they are headed.

If you know a student who needs a place to land, tonight might be it.

THANKFUL THURSDAY

We're grateful for you.

Not just the people who show up every single week. Not just the ones who volunteer or lead or make big sacrifices.

All of you.

The ones who come when life is messy. The ones who show up late. The ones who sit quietly in the corner and slowly, week by week, start to believe they belong here.

You make this community what it is.

Your presence matters. Your story matters. Your willingness to show up and be real with people who are trying to figure it out too, that's what builds a family.

We're thankful for the laughter in the gym. The conversations around the dinner table. The kids asking questions. The teens finding their voice. The adults getting honest.

We're thankful for you choosing AS IS. For letting us be part of your journey. For trusting us with your heart.

This is more than a church. This is family. And we're grateful every single day for the people who make it feel like home.

Thank you.

Today we pause.

Not for sales or a day off, but to remember real people who did not come home. Sons and daughters. Mothers and fathers. Neighbors and friends who gave everything.

This morning we are doing the Murph, one of the most well known Memorial Day workouts in CrossFit, named after Navy Lieutenant Michael Murphy who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2005. We do not do it to suffer. We do it to remember. Every rep is a small way of saying his name and the names of all who made the same sacrifice.

After the workout we are firing up the grill and sharing a meal together, because community is one of the things worth protecting.

The rest of the day we are off, and we think that is right. Rest is not disrespect. It is part of honoring a gift that cost someone everything.

If you are carrying a heavy heart today, whether for someone you lost recently or years ago, you are not alone. We see you. We sit with you in this.

Take a moment today to say a name out loud. Tell a story. Let the grief be real.

That is how we honor the ones we have lost.

Throwback and Thankful Thursday!

Today we are pausing to celebrate someone who pours everything he has into the people around him... our very own Scott!

Scott, you love God with your whole heart, and it shows in everything you do. You show up for your family, you show up for this community, and you show up for every single person who walks through our doors. Whether you are lifting weights with the youth or adults, teaching the Word, mentoring, or serving quietly behind the scenes, you bring the same passion and dedication to all of it.

We are so grateful for the way you pursue the next generation and every adult who needs to know they belong somewhere. Your love for youth and families is not just a ministry to you, it is a calling, and this community is better because you said yes to it.

So many of us found a home here and became family because you were faithful to follow the call God placed on your heart. That is not a small thing. That is a legacy.
We are thankful for your heart, your leadership, and your friendship.

Today we celebrate YOU!

Happy Birthday, Scott!

Drop a birthday message in the comments and let him know how much he means to you!
