Titanic 1912: A Musical Night to Remember

Titanic 1912: A Musical Night to Remember On the 100th anniversary of the disaster, come rediscover the musical mysteries surrounding the steamship Titanic

In an unprecedented media frenzy of 1912, composers, publishers and musicians busily jumped on the bandwagon, all to fill the insatiable appetite of a Titanic-crazed public. From descriptive piano fantasies to forgotten masterworks for organ; from reverent choral anthems to campy popular ditties, this concert explores period music which commemorates (and yes, even exploits!) the most infamous mari

time tragedy of all time. Co-sponsored by the Oregon Historical Society and First Congregational UCC. Saturday, April 14 at 7:30 pm and Sunday matinée, April 15 at 2:30.

"Many brave things were done that night, but none more brave than by those few men playing minute after minute as the ship settled quietly lower and lower in the sea and the sea rose higher and higher to where they stood -- the music they played serving alike as their own immortal requiem and their right to be recorded on the rolls of undying fame" -Lawrence Beesley, witness.
