**Theology Thursday**

We often imagine faith as something we do for God.

Something we muster.
Something we strengthen.
Something we offer.

But the Gospel tells a different story.

Faith is not our climb toward God. Faith is what happens when our climbing finally fails and we discover that Christ has already come down to us.

Faith is not confidence in ourselves.

It is confidence in a promise.

A promise spoken to sinners.

A promise fulfilled in Jesus Christ.

When everything else gives way, Christ remains.

And that is enough.
