Cathedral of the Beloved’s The Rev. Margot Page was present yesterday at the rally around skyrocketing rents. Margot, also president of Berkshire Interfaith Organizing, shared this in discussing a proposed rent cap:

“It will help renters because of predictability," said Margot Page, president of Berkshire Interfaith Organizing. "They can rent into a place knowing that in a month, five months, six months, their rent won't go up."

"What's happening is rents are going up and our folks are not able to stay in town," Page said. "The folks that want to live here can't."

At the Pittsfield Common, dozens of residents commiserated about skyrocketing rents while advocates proposed a solution: capping rent increases.

“Rent is too damn high” is a rally on Saturday to continue a movement toward keeping residents in towns where they live and work. Rent stabilization will place a cap on how much predatory land lords can raise the rent. Whether you believe in rent control or not, signing the available petition will put the issue on the ballot in November.

Co-sponsored by Berkshire Interfaith Organizing and Springfield No one Leaves. The Rev. Margot Page, along with other
local and state speakers, will be present to answer questions. Come to the Commons and be part of the conversation.

Friends, calling for the help we long for when in crises should never be a death sentence. When individuals are in crisis, trained professionals who can offer a non-anxious and compassionate presence is imperative. Tonight is the first of many conversations to address the gaps in crisis response within Berkshire County. Your presence and voice are essential.

When we wander into Wander, we never know what gifts we will be graced with. Today, over coffee and toast, we learned about portable weaving from Eva. Simple ways to use string and recycled cardboard to create patterns. Will definitely need another tutorial and it is so fun to learn new things as others share their gifts and passions!

Join us any Thursday at 10:30am at Wander coffee shop (directly behind Tito’s).

Today felt like a new beginning as we returned to the lawn, a chance to reconnect and recharge with the people who matter most. As we gathered on the lawn, the cold weather was (mostly) forgotten in the face of warm hugs and laughter. We're grateful for the love and support we share, and for the ways we inspire each other to embody God's love in our daily lives.
