I was thinking about one of the people who attended our What Is Satanism? talk at CMU.

This person asked what human rights we were referring to when we mentioned that as Satanists we believe that everyone deserves the same basic human rights without exception.

Well, this document describes those rights.

Satanic FAQ of the Day: Do Satanists worship Satan?

In short, no, Satanists do not worship Satan.

Like any other religion, specific beliefs vary by individual, but generally as a group, modern Satanists are atheistic - we do not believe in the existence of any real deities that have an ability to influence real life. Additionally, we do not give credence to mysticism or the supernatural.

As modern Satanists, we at SCS base our understanding of the world on current science, and we use reason and critical thinking to evaluate the information we receive and influence the decisions that we make.

There are individuals and groups who are "theistic Satanists" and who do believe in the existence of a real Satan. While we do not share that belief, we respect theists' freedom to form their own opinion of the world. We welcome any individual who shares the core values of Steel City Satanists and whose actions support our mission.

Concerning recent reports of a memo from the Trump Administration that was leaked which describes intentions to identify American citizens either male or female based on their ge***al anatomy and/or "genetics:"

We are deeply disturbed and disgusted by the Trump Administration's attempt to define s*x and gender by the appearance of one's ge***als at/before birth and/or "genetics."

It is not the government's place to define the parameters of anyone's identity or to require its designation on any documents. To do so strips all of us of our agency and the right to define our identities as we see fit. One’s identity (of which s*x/gender are merely one facet) does not have any bearing on our inherent value as humans and should not dictate the types of opportunities available to us or affect our access to resources… but it already does. This gross violation of bodily autonomy and will only serve to perpetuate the s*xist legislative and economic practices already in place in society while rolling out the red carpet for additional discrimination.

The Trump Administration’s blatant disregard for personal freedoms affects all Americans but will harm the transgender and non-binary communities most, communities who already face exponentially higher rates of disenfranchisement, not to mention outright violence. This is fascism, people. It’s fascism and it is happening right before our eyes. Fellow Americans, do not be complicit in your own oppression through complacency! Our liberty is at stake.
