Let me Introduce you to the Story of Daniel Wanyama! On August 24, 2021 Bridge of Hope Global answered the CALL to Shift. As myself, Esther Alene Mathews and Argwings Wamache Makau walked the streets of Bungoma, for a typical day of purchase...we encountered a group of young homeless boys, begging for money.
While this had not been the first time that we've seen or encountered this, as we've been traveling to the Motherland since 2016....However, there was something different about that day...something different about this group of boys. Now having (due to amazing Donors), what was needed to accommodate more children at our home; the question was presented..."Do you want to go to school and come away from this life"? The response was Yes.
Though there were 3 that week...only 1 remained...and here's where it becomes heartbreaking and challenging. Many children on the street of Bungoma have been living as panhandlers as young as 4/5. For some they ran from abuse that we cant even imagine, for some they were abandoned completely and others are the last living among the family...(meaning their entire family has died)
For Daniel, he had walked from Busia to Bungoma(43miles) and made the streets of Bungoma his home for the past 4 years... Having a deceased Father and no mother....He knew in a place, like Bungoma he would atleast be able to make spare change for food. When we met him, he was addicted to glue...as this, along with radiator coolant are commonly used inhalants as both mind altering substances and a hunger suppressant (to remove hunger pains)....
But here we are TODAY 1.5 yrs later...presenting to you the REALITY of what happens when HOPE is presented...What happens when children are placed in communities of faith, love, and opportunity!..THIS right here is the Result...This right HERE is why Bridge of Hope Global exists!...We are here to Change Lives, Restored Hope and Lead the Way!
Daniel graduated from our Primary School and has been accepted into St.Cecilia Makokhwe Secondary School! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉....ONLY God could have done this, along with all of your support with pushing the Vision and Advancement of Bridge of Hope Global in Bungoma and Kakamega County.
