Many people talk about sins and try to weigh them out / prioritize them. The Bible says that we should speak the truth in love, and because I love you, I will always tell you the truth. The Bible also says that the truth will set you free, and whom the Lord sets free is free indeed.
If you were trying to make a list, the first sin is putting anything, including yourself, in front of God. Since we were created to be God’s reflection, anything else before God is blocking the mirror and disobedience. All disobedience is sin and there are WAY TOO many possibilities to count them all to number. Fortunately for us,
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever would believe in Him would not perish, but have eternal life. We understand, in every other context, that we need to “put our money where our mouth is” and that the “proof is in the pudding.” So, why is accepting the gift of salvation different?
We need to believe in our heart that “our way wasn’t working” and Jesus died to give us a chance to do / be different.
1) He died for us, so we could live for Him.
2) He died for what we did, do, and will do.
3) That’s not a get out of jail free card. It’s an exchange that requires your investment of what didn’t work for what will. That’s why you need Jesus to lead you FOREVER…not just one and done.
NEWSFLASH if you could have done it yourself, you wouldn’t have needed to ask for Him to save you. He left the Holy Spirit behind to help you, so receive and follow Holy Spirit FOREVER. If you’re going to keep doing the same thing over and over, why ask to be set free?
God knows the difference between what we do on purpose, cause that’s what’s in our hearts to do, versus what we can’t get free from and we’re not able to stop doing it. All we need to do is face it, and confess it to God. God will fill in the gaps for you, if you let Him, because He cares about you and the things that concern you. He wants you to know that He protects you, provides for you, helps you, strengthens you, prepares for your benefit…for all the sins we can’t count, there’s even more promises for His glory and our good. We just need to decide, FOR OURSELVES, that He’s worth it, like He already decided for us, that we’re worth it to Him.
God promises that if you ask, you will receive. He also promised that His word will NEVER come back void. You just need to decide, honestly / sincerely, to ask. Don’t say what you think everyone wants you to say, what you think is the popular thing to say, not what’s expected to say, mean it and ask it because you want the best possible way that is GUARANTEED to work.
Say it / Read it (but mean it):
Jesus, I believe you lived a perfect life to pay for my sins , cause I could NEVER do it for myself. My way doesn’t work and I’m tired of failing and falling short ON PURPOSE. Please come into my heart and my life. Hold my hand and show me how to do it YOUR WAY instead of mine. Holy Spirit, fill me and keep me filled, so that my gaps over flow and God can see His reflection more clearly all the days of my life. I’m grateful that you LOVE me first. Please teach me how to do this for others, in EVERY way that pleases you. You decided, that I am worth it to you, and I’m deciding RIGHT NOW, God, that you’re worth it to me too, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

You will need it to start your relationship, but YOU NEED TO also spend time talking with God, and LISTENING to God (not just hearing Him) to grow it. Have conversations and ask questions, express your feelings, and let GOD answer you. Think about the people that you do have relationships with. Do they all talk to you the same way and answer you the same way? No. So, why would you expect the author and finisher of all things, to speak to you and answer you, the exact same way, every single time and exactly like everyone else, when He thinks about you, specifically, “as many times as there are grains of sand?” Are they all the same? Every grain? No. So, if He thinks about you SO MUCH, and in that much detail, why can’t YOU spend some time asking God and finding out why for YOURSELF? Love you, Just sayin…
