I'm writing this in September a few weeks before the Feast of Trumpets. I always become more reflective around this time of the year because I truly believe that the rapture of the church will occur during that particular feast, but of course, I don't know which feast of trumpets. It could be in a couple of weeks. It could be in a couple or several more years....

I listen to encounteringpeace.app every day for meditation on scripture. During my meditation this past Thursday, one of the scriptures was Luke 9:23-24. After meditation I pray. I pray for my children and their families; I pray for my neighbors, and my boss; I pray for my husband and best friends, and for the world that it will look up, realize who God is and glorify Him....

With Valentine's Day approaching, there is, of course, an emphasis on expressing our love to our loved ones with cards, flowers, candy, jewelry, cars, fruit, etc. But what if we told people we loved them on a more regular basis, not just because of the cultural push of this month? What if we expressed love to people, despite cultural rules that we NOT, because of pride, or love of self, or whatever?...

They'll know we are Christians by our love

Today’s reading is:
Leviticus 16-18

Leviticus 18:1-5 (KJV)

And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

2 Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, I am the Lord your God.

3 After the doings of the land of Egypt, wherein ye dwelt, shall ye not do: and after the doings of the land of Canaan, whither I bring you, shall ye not do: neither shall ye walk in their ordinances.

4 Ye shall do my judgments, and keep mine ordinances, to walk therein: I am the Lord your God.

5 Ye shall therefore keep my statutes, and my judgments: which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the Lord.

We have begun to read through the Bible in a Year, following Dr. David Jeremiah’s reading plan, which proceeds through the books of the Bible in the order in which they appear. If you are interested in reviewing other plans methods, you might try Back to the Bible.

Today’s reading is:
Exodus 38-40

Exodus 40:38 (KJV)

For the cloud of the Lord was upon the tabernacle by day, and fire was on it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel, throughout all their journeys.

We have begun to read through the Bible in a Year, following Dr. David Jeremiah’s reading plan, which proceeds through the books of the Bible in the order in which they appear. You can download the plan here. If you are interested in reviewing other plans methods, you might try Back to the Bible.

Today’s reading is:
Exodus 24-27

Exodus 24:12 (KJV)

And the Lord said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them.

We're reading through the Bible in a year, using David Jeremiah's plan. Today's reading is Exodus 14-16.

Today's highlighted verse is Exodus 14:13-14:

And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
14 The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

Just wanted to let everyone know that for the coming year, we are going to try to read through the Bible in a year, rather than feature Psalms and Proverbs for the Day. Psalms and Proverbs for the Day will still be up and all those posted during 2021 will still be available.

We will start the plan on January 1 and hopefully, carry it through to the end of the year. If anyone you know has been wanting to do that, maybe let them know about the site and we all can do it together.

Happy New Year!

Plenty of Time? Are we ready?

“Satan’s greatest success is in making people think they have plenty of time before they die to consider their eternal welfare.” ~ John Owen.

Beginning Again

“Where do I go from here?” “How do I start?”

Here are some thoughts.

We might think that the yearning to draw close to the Lord came from within us, but actually that yearning came from Him; He puts it there; He orchestrates the circumstances that lead us to the desire to come to Him; He initiates the relationship, not us. This is an amazing truth! What a wonderful realization, that the Lord loves us, in spite of our transgressions, and wants us to be with Him!

We shouldn't take His invitation lightly, or delay responding to Him. Harden not your heart! In Scripture, we are warned that we should not assume that additional opportunities or time will be given for us to respond.

To respond, we pray. We agree with the Lord that we need Him, are sorry for anything that He is bringing to our mind as conviction of wrongdoing. We ask Him to forgive us, heal us, renew our relationship. We thank Him for saving us.

This is repentance. I think we don’t like that word because we don’t like to admit that we have done anything wrong, even when we know it is true deep down, and sometimes we don’t like to change. It can be difficult and uncomfortable. God will help us. God knows that we cannot do this on our own.
