Why do we gather on Sundays to worship God? Because that's the day Jesus rose from the dead! Every Sunday is a Resurrection Sunday. We not only remember the life we have in Christ, but we are actually renewed in that life.
With that said, approximately 80% of the United States (~272 million people) will celebrate the holiday known as "Easter" in some way. These observances may include candy baskets, egg hunts, family gatherings, perhaps even a visit to church.
How many will have the hope of resurrection?
At Delta Oaks, we gather to glorify the One who gave us life. We praise God, not only because He made us, but because He saves us from the death we deserve by taking it upon Himself, then rising on the third day. It is only by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ that we, through faith, may experience life as it was always meant to be. A life of never-ending joy and wonder before the face of God. Our bodies restored. Our minds renewed. Our souls perfected. Our hearts past overflowing.
But you have to believe.
You must believe in Jesus, or all the joy of resurrection will be eternally and irrevocably closed to you. Only Jesus can say to us, as He said to Martha: “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”
Tomorrow we plan to hand out worship guides and welcome gifts for visitors, as well as coloring packets for all the younger folks. A special sermon on John 11:17–27 will be preached. We will also observe the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper, which God gave us to display our hope in a way we can smell, touch, and taste.
May God fill all who enter our doors with faith in Jesus Christ, and the hope of the resurrection.
