What a morning, Piedmont! 🚒🚓🎈 Thank you to everyone who came out to Touch-A-Truck at Piedmont Community Park today — the kids climbing through the fire engine, the splash pad splashes, the bounce castle laughter — it was a joy to share it all with you. A huge thank you to our local fire and police departments for bringing their trucks out, and to everyone who stopped by to meet our growing church family. We loved getting to know you and hope to see you again soon!

We’re setting up in Piedmont Community Park and the excitement is real! 🚒🚓🎈 Touch-A-Truck starts at 10:00 AM — come find us at 130 Gooder Simpson Blvd. Free admission, fire truck, police car, bounce castle, and a whole lot of fun waiting for your family. It’s going to be a hot one, so bring swimsuits and towels — the park’s splash pad is on site to help everyone cool off! See you soon!

Just 2 days to go, Piedmont! 🚒🚓

Our FREE Touch a Truck is almost here — this Saturday, August 15 at 10 AM at Piedmont Community Park. Real fire trucks, a police car, a backhoe, and lots of little hands ready to honk every horn in sight. 🎉

No tickets, no cost — just bring the kids and come have fun with us. It's a great chance to meet some of the families planting Risen Savior right here in Piedmont. We'd love to see you there!

Tonight the Piedmont Area Veterans Assembly Building looked a little different — chairs in rows, worship folders stacked, and the first steps taken toward Sunday, August 23. Before anyone left, we paused for a liturgical blessing of the space itself, asking God to make this room, for a season, a place where His Word is rightly preached and His Sacraments rightly administered.

There’s something moving about setting up a sanctuary from nothing — no pews handed down from generations before us, no stained glass yet, just folding chairs and faithful hands. But the same ancient faith that has gathered God’s people for two thousand years gathered here tonight in Piedmont. Deep roots really do make new beginnings possible.

Mark your calendars, families — Risen Savior Lutheran Church is hosting a FREE Community Fun Day, and we’d love for you to join us!

Kids can climb aboard a real fire engine, check out a police squad car up close, and bounce the morning away in the bounce castle. It’s a laid-back, no-pressure way to meet the people building Piedmont’s newest church family — no sermon, just fun, bouncing, and good company.

The 17th-century poet and priest George Herbert captured the mystery of Holy Communion in just two lines:

“Love is that liquour sweet and most divine

What costs our Lord His very blood, He gives to us as something we can taste and receive. In the Supper, He doesn’t ask us to imagine His sacrifice from a distance — He places it in our hands and on our lips.

“Take, eat… take, drink.” Not a symbol pointing away from Him, but Christ Himself, truly present, truly given, truly for you. Join us August 23 when we receive it together.

Today the Church remembers St. Mary Magdalene. 🕊️
She came to the tomb in the dark, expecting death — and instead the risen Jesus spoke her name: "Mary." (John 20:16)
The first preacher of the resurrection was a woman cleansed of seven demons. That's the heart of the gospel: Christ seeks out the broken, the overlooked, and the grieving, and calls each of us by name.
The same risen Savior who met Mary still meets us today — in His Word, at His table, and in His people.
You are known. You are named. You are loved.
