Have you considered that the only four women mentioned in the genealogy of Jesus in the gospel of Matthew are those who would be considered the least likely to be used of God? Thamar (Tamar) disguised herself as a pr******te and bore twins by her father-in-law, Judah. Rachab (Rahab) was a harlot, who helped the Israeli spies, and gave birth to Boaz. Ruth was a Moabitess, reared as a pagan, a stranger in Bethlehem, who bore a son named Obed. Bathsheba, who committed adultery with King David, gave birth to King Solomon. Why did God see fit to mention only these women in the genealogy? I think He wants to show that He uses sinful people, the ones we may have written off. My husband’s most frequent statement in sermons is “God specializes in restoration”. No matter how far we have strayed, He is there to welcome us back, as the father welcomed the prodigal son. He wants to use us, because He loves us, and it’s all of Him anyway because our righteousness is as filthy rags.
