Our work as doulas matters. Our presence matters.

No matter how the journey unfolds—even when we have to pivot—it is always the birthing person’s voice that we honor. We show up with guidance, compassion, vigilance, love, and steady presence. And in doing so, we can help shift the atmosphere, the experience, and even the outcome.

After 18 hours of continuous support through a long, unpredictable night filled with uncertain and, at times, scary moments—I am beyond grateful for a safe and healthy outcome.

Through it all, I remained calm, supportive, watchful, and collaborative alongside mom, dad, grandmother, and the medical team. This work calls for flexibility, trust, and deep presence—and I’m reminded again just how powerful that can be.

I thank God for entrusting me with these sacred moments. They are not always easy, but they are always meaningful. Even in the challenge, there is beauty. Even in the uncertainty, there is purpose.

And to every doula—what you do matters, and you matter. Take the time after these moments to allow God to give you rest, restoration, and renewal. Let Him pour back into you an overflow of all that you have poured out, so you can continue to show up, be present, and advocate for such a time as this.

This is where my calling, passion, and purpose come together—and I am forever grateful that God allows me to walk in it.

I am honored to witness, to support, and to stand in the gap during some of life’s most vulnerable and miraculous experiences. 💜

In the U.S., over 800 women die each year from pregnancy-related causes
• 80% of these deaths are preventable
• Black women are 2–3 times more likely to die from pregnancy-related complications than white women
• Thousands more experience severe maternal morbidity—life-threatening complications during or after childbirth

This is why awareness matters. This is why advocacy matters. This is why support matters.

As a doula, my mission is to ensure that every mother is:
✨ Seen
✨ Heard
✨ Protected
✨ Cared for
✨ Empowered
✨ Loved

And most importantly—that she knows support is available and that she deserves it, unapologetically.

This week, advocacy can look like:
🤍 Educating yourself and others about maternal health disparities
🤍 Supporting and uplifting Black and Brown mothers
🤍 Advocating for better healthcare policies and access
🤍 Checking in on a mom—before, during, and after birth
🤍 Investing in and supporting doulas and community-based care

Because when we support mothers, we strengthen families, communities, and future generations.

Will you stand with me this week—and beyond—to uplift, protect, and celebrate our moms? 💜

Today I had the honor, pleasure, and privilege of participating in the career fair at Paul Robeson High School. I’ll be honest—I still get a little nervous whenever God opens the door for me to speak to young people. But once again, He showed up.

I walked away feeling incredibly blessed. The scholars were engaged, curious, and inspiring in their own right. While I went to share my journey—from 30 years in health and human services to now serving in the maternal health space as a certified doula—I received just as much as I gave. It was truly a two-way blessing.

Moments like this remind me that when we follow where God leads and say yes to what He asks of us, there is purpose in every step. Life may be life-ing, but God is still God—and He continues to bless me so I can be a blessing to others.

A special thank you to my Soror Kyana for trusting me with such an amazing group of students. I’m so grateful. 🤍

A moment of gratitude.

God is faithful.
When life is hard, God is faithful.
When life feels uncertain, God is faithful.
When you feel unworthy, God is faithful.
When you don’t have the answers, God is faithful.
Even when you don’t always make God choices, God remains faithful.

No matter what life looks like, His faithfulness does not change.

He loves us deeply, cares for us completely, sees us fully, and is always working on our behalf—even when we cannot see it or feel it. His presence is constant, His grace is sufficient, and His promises are true.

God is faithful—yesterday, today, and always.

The Lord is faithful to all His promises and loving toward all He has made (Psalm 145:13)
If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself. (2 Timothy 2:13)

Rest in the assurance that no matter the season, God’s faithfulness is your firm foundation.

Happy Birthday to my little man man… my KJ… my joy! 🎉💙
Krue, you have brought a love into our lives that words could never fully capture. From the moment you came into this world, you filled our hearts with pure happiness and purpose. You are such a sweet, caring, loving, intelligent, and gentle little guy, and it is truly a blessing to watch you grow into the amazing young boy you are becoming.

You light up every room you walk into, and your smile alone can turn any day around. Yaya loves you more than you will ever know, and I thank God for the gift of you. 💙

And kudos to your beautiful mother—she is absolutely amazing and is raising Krue with so much love, grace, and intention. It shows in everything he does.

Happy Birthday, Krue! Yaya loves you forever and always! 🥰🎂💙
