Tonight we begin the 300th day of insanity. If you are in the area of our precious AJ, our friendly shul in Elkins Park, I would like to encourage you to come. At 7 PM we will begin Mincha, the afternoon service. Then, about 15 minutes later, we start Ma'ariv which brings in the new day as we approach sunset. I will add prayers and songs fitting the occasion, but we'll still be out about 7:30. 7763 Old York Road. Message me with questions

Hey I heard from someone today looking for weekday service guidance. I made this video during Covid and while it is geared to weekday Mincha, the amidah is roughly the same in shacharit. The melody (nusach) is what we call pentatonic (not to be confused with any other ‘tonics’. If you want assistance learning any part of any service, let me know and I’m always glad to schedule a session together out of which might come a new YouTube.

In this video, I chant the entire Amidah aloud that one would say privately. The nusach is the pentatonic based on the five black note of a piano. Feel free...

Dear Mr. Scott,

Your decision to cancel the film that was scheduled for this evening can still be corrected. I am sure the pressure from the antisemitic public was enormous and I do not envy your position. From their celebratory announcements online and your weak capitulation, they are clearly encouraged to promote their selective form of censorship going forward.

I trust you must have much work to do now culling every offering you have in the coming weeks, months and years that emanates from a nation, religion or culture that possesses what may be deemed offensive. Without such a process that follows immediately, your cowardly action becomes more - it is proven to be an antisemitic action. It isn't as if, I can simply see this film elsewhere anytime soon. This was the sole screening scheduled and your decision robs the public of an opportunity to view what seems to be a beautiful production.

I looked forward to watching and hearing the life's retrospective of Yehuda Poliker, one of Israel's musical giants. From the description, this appears to be a very personal and non-political film.

"He watches rare archival footage, some of which are never before seen family home-videos. At times, he joins in on the guitar, accompanying that same stuttering, insecure young man looking back at him from the screen, or his parents singing Greek songs, and sometimes, he just sits silently and reminisces. In conversation between then and now, in conversation with his friend for the past 40 years, Eti Aneta Segev, images from Poliker's life join one another, while his touching music plays in the background. The images spark memories that transport us freely between the different junctures of his life."
