A Journey of Blessings, Offering, and Peace

Dear Friends and Devotees,
As we welcome the Lunar New Year, visiting Buddhist temples has long been a cherished tradition within Vietnamese culture a meaningful way to begin the year with mindfulness, gratitude, and blessings. In keeping with this beautiful annual tradition, Phat Bao Temple is pleased to announce our 2026 New Year Pilgrimage Trip, offering a wonderful opportunity for our community to pay respect to the Triple Gem, make offerings, cultivate merit, and pray for a peaceful and prosperous year ahead.

This year, our pilgrimage group will visit four Buddhist temples across Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C., followed by a special stop at Eden Center the cultural heart of the Vietnamese community for shopping and leisure.

Dear Venerable Sangha and Dharma Friends,

Phat Bao Temple in Philadelphia is deeply joyful to announce the Fall 2025 Dharma Retreat, hosted by the Council for Dharma Propagation – Division of Buddhist Teaching of the Vietnamese Unified Buddhist Congregation of the United States, to be held at Phat Bao Temple, 6427 Large Street, Philadelphia, PA, on November 15 and 16, 2025 (Saturday and Sunday).

This retreat is a rare and precious opportunity for the Buddhist community to gather, study, and practice the true teachings of the Buddha in a spirit of harmony and devotion.

In the Aṅguttara Nikāya (Book of the Threes, Chapter on the Samaṇas), the Buddha taught:
“One should train in the higher virtue, train in the higher mind, and train in the higher wisdom.
Through these three trainings, greed is abandoned, hatred is abandoned, and delusion is abandoned.”

These words remind us that learning and practicing the Dharma is not merely beneficial it is essential. The cultivation of sīla (morality), samādhi (concentration), and paññā (wisdom) leads directly to the ending of suffering and the realization of liberation.

This year’s Fall Retreat will be especially meaningful, as it will be honored by the presence and teachings of distinguished Dharma Masters:
• Most Venerable Thich Nguyen Sieu – Deputy Secretary of the Council for Dharma Propagation and Head of the Division of Buddhist Teaching in the United States
• Most Venerable Thich Thai Hoa – Secretary-General of the Council for Dharma Propagation, Vietnamese Unified Buddhist Congregation
• Venerable Thich Chuc Dai – Member of the Division of Buddhist Teaching

Their compassionate presence and profound teachings are a rare blessing in this vast land of America, offering a unique chance to listen to the Dharma directly from venerable teachers of great virtue, wisdom, and experience.

Throughout these two full days of practice, participants will have the opportunity to engage in sacred sessions of chanting, Dharma talks, meditation, recitation, and group discussions, guided by our honored teachers. THÔNG BÁO KHAI KINH VU LAN BÁO HIẾU
Kính thưa quý đồng hương Phật tử,
Mỗi độ thu về, khi những chiếc lá vàng bắt đầu buông mình theo gió nhẹ, lòng người con Phật lại rộn ràng hướng về mùa Vu Lan Báo Hiếu, mùa của yêu thương, của nhớ tưởng và tri ân sâu sắc đến cha mẹ hiện tiền cùng cửu huyền thất tổ quá vãng.
Theo truyền thống từ thời Đức Phật còn tại thế, lễ Vu Lan bắt nguồn từ hạnh nguyện cao quý của Tôn giả Mục Kiền Liên bậc đại đệ tử có thần thông đệ nhất đã khởi tâm cứu mẹ khỏi cảnh khổ trong loài ngạ quỷ. Từ đó, mỗi mùa Vu Lan về, hàng Phật tử lại phát nguyện tu tập, cúng dường, sám hối và tụng kinh để cầu nguyện cho cha mẹ được phước thọ an lạc, cho cửu huyền thất tổ được siêu sanh tịnh độ.
Nay, Chùa Phật Bảo trân trọng thông báo:
Chúng con sẽ cử hành Lễ Khai Kinh Vu Lan Báo Hiếu nhằm khởi đầu cho mùa tu tập thanh tịnh và thấm đẫm tình hiếu hạnh.

“Hiếu là phước điền bậc nhất,
Người có hiếu là người có Phật trong tâm.”
Nguyện cho mỗi lời kinh, mỗi ánh nến lung linh trong buổi lễ khai kinh sẽ thắp sáng thêm ngọn lửa hiếu đạo giữa cuộc đời vốn nhiều lãng quên.

Kính bạch chư Tôn Đức,
Kính thưa quý đồng hương Phật tử gần xa,
Mỗi độ thu về, khi chiếc lá vàng đầu tiên khẽ rơi trên mái hiên Chùa, khi làn khói trầm mong manh quyện vào tiếng chuông sớm, lòng người con Phật lại lặng lẽ hướng về một mùa Vu Lan, mùa của nhớ thương, của tri ân và báo hiếu.
Vu Lan không chỉ là một ngày lễ, mà là một lời gọi. Gọi ta trở về, không chỉ về Chùa, mà về sâu trong lòng mình, nơi tình Cha Mẹ lặng thầm như đất, âm thầm như suối, mà không phút nào ngừng nuôi dưỡng đời ta.
Năm nay, Chùa Phật Bảo thành tâm tổ chức Đại lễ Vu Lan Báo Hiếu với chủ đề:
“Mẹ Ơi, Con Về Trong Chiều Vu Lan” như một tiếng thở dài vọng từ tim con hướng về bóng Mẹ đã nhòa trong nắng, hay nụ cười của Cha giờ chỉ còn hiện về trong mộng...
Chúng con kính cung thỉnh chư Tôn Đức chứng minh và trân trọng mời toàn thể quý thiện nam tín nữ, quý đồng hương Phật tử gần xa cùng trở về dưới mái chùa thân thương:

Sau nghi lễ tụng kinh Vu Lan, dâng hoa hồng hiếu hạnh và pháp thoại của HT Thích Nguyên Siêu đầy đạo tình, quý Phật tử sẽ cùng nhau tham dự:
🍂 Buổi tiệc buffet chay được cộng đồng Phật tử phát tâm sắm sanh, để cúng dường Tam Bảo và thân tình thiết đãi đến toàn thể quý quan khách, như một nén tâm hương hiếu thảo dâng lên Cha Mẹ hiện tiền và quá vãng.
🎶 Chương trình văn nghệ Vu Lan sẽ được phụ trách bởi hai vị Phật tử: Xuân Lộc và Nhật Khai, với những tiết mục thấm đẫm đạo tình, gợi mở lòng hiếu hạnh trong từng câu hát, lời thơ như suối mát tưới vào tâm hồn người con Phật trong mùa Báo Hiếu.
🕯 Vào buổi chiều, Chùa sẽ thiết lễ Lược Khoa Thí Thực Cô Hồn, cúng dường chư vị âm linh uổng tử, Cầu Siêu phổ độ cho những hương linh chưa siêu thoát, cô hồn không nơi nương tựa, được thấm nhuần ánh sáng từ bi và hồi hướng công đức trong mùa đại lễ Vu Lan thắng hội.
Kính mong quý vị sắp xếp thời gian quý báu, cùng trở về chùa để:
Thắp một nén hương lòng, dâng một đoá hồng hiếu hạnh và lạy một lạy cho người còn hay đã khuất điều đó vẫn luôn là cội nguồn yêu thương trong tim của mỗi người con.
"Con vẫn còn là một đứa con biết nhớ và chiều Vu Lan này, con đã trở về…"
