Mizrach USY We Are... Full of pride and ruach! We participate in community and international events all while for

Mizrach USY is the Eastern Pennsylvania and greater Philadelphia region of USY, USCJ’s youth movement for Conservative Jewish teens across North America. Formerly known as EPA/Hagesher USY

For more than 60 years, USY has taught young Jews the values and skills they need to become exceptional leaders in their religious and secular communities. USY empowers youth to develop friendships, leadership

skills, a sense of belonging to the Jewish People, and a commitment to inspired Jewish living through meaningful and fun experiences rooted in Conservative Judaism’s approach to learning, spiritual expression, and social responsibility. Through year round programming and domestic and international travel opportunities, USY inspires in teens a deep sense of pride in and love for their Jewish identity.

USY is piloting a new opportunity for connection, leadership, and education exclusively for young Jews of Color, Indigenous Jews, Sephardi Jews, and Mizrahi Jews across the country. Together, these groups will develop leadership skills, hear from JOCISM speakers who are making a difference in diversity, equity, and inclusion in their communities, and unpack their intersectional identities using Jewish themes and values. Most importantly, they will develop bonds with other JOCISM youth from near and far.

The application is now open! Applicants will be accepted on a rolling basis with a preference for applications received by August 31st. To learn more and to apply, visit https://www.usy.org/get-involved/usy-jocism-cohort/.

We are saddened and disheartened to see the violence taking place both within Israel and between the IDF and Hamas. We believe in Israel’s right to exist and defend itself and also believe that Palestinians have a right to human rights and human dignity. We pray for a speedy recovery for all those who have been injured, Israeli and Palestinian, and give our empathy and send our tears to those who have lost loved ones. As our Talmud says:
‎הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא זוֹכֵר אֶת בָּנָיו שֶׁשְּׁרוּיִים בְּצַעַר בֵּין אוּמּוֹת הָעוֹלָם מוֹרִיד שְׁתֵּי דְמָעוֹת לַיָּם הַגָּדוֹל, וְקוֹלוֹ נִשְׁמָע מִסּוֹף הָעוֹלָם וְעַד סוֹפוֹ
The Holy One, Blessed be He, remembers His children who are suffering among the nations of the world, He sheds two tears into the great sea. The sound of their reverberation is heard from one end of the earth to the other (Berakhot 59a)
We hope and pray for the violence to come to an end and for a ceasefire agreement to be reached quickly.

Look out for some more resources about the conflict!
