Help us end hunger in communities across North America! The Knights of Columbus San Salvador Council will be collecting donations at Epiphany of Our Lord Church this weekend and next.

Many people in our communities are struggling through hardship and unable to provide food to their families. Food for Families ensures that as few as possible go to bed hungry each night.

Our 2026 Food For Families program will go to support:
- Saint Edmond Community Center-Food Pantry
- Sacred Heart of Jesus Church (South Phila.) Food Pantry
- Saint Gabriel’s Food Cupboard

About Food for Families

High unemployment rates and rising food prices have left many in our communities unable to provide nutritious meals for their families. Too many children are going to bed hungry or getting ill. The Food for Families program is one way that the Knights of Columbus and our communities are working together to end hunger.

Thursday Evening, the Knights of Columbus San Salvador Council 283 led Epiphany of Our Lord Church in a very special Holy Hour of Prayer and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

This Holy Hour (June 11, 2026) was held in South Philadelphia as part of the Knights of Columbus Pilgrim Icon Program, as we joined with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and Catholics around the Nation in consecrating the United States and the parish to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. 🇺🇸✝️🇺🇸✝️🇺🇸

The Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus – also the World Day of Prayer for the Sanctification of Priests – is celebrated on the Friday after the Solemnity of Corpus Christi. This suggests to us that the Eucharist (Corpus Christi) is none other than the Heart of Jesus himself, of the One who “takes care of us” with his “heart”.

“Divine Heart of Jesus,
I offer you through the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
Mother of the Church,
in union with the Eucharistic Sacrifice,
my prayers, actions, joys and sufferings of this day
in reparation for sins and for the salvation of all people,
in the grace of the Holy Spirit for the glory of the Heavenly Father.

Tonight, the Knights of Columbus San Salvador Council #283 led Saint Paul Parish, with volunteers from the St. Paul Young Adult Ministry, in a very special Holy Hour of Prayer and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

This Holy Hour was held as part of the Knights of Columbus Pilgrim Icon Program, as we joined with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and Catholics around the Nation in consecrating the United States and the parish to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

As part of the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. bishops will consecrate the United States of America to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

For our participation in this consecration to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Epiphany of Our Lord will be holding a special Holy Hour of devotion, prayer and adoration. This Holy Hour is part of the Knights of Columbus Pilgrim Icon Program, featuring an image that is particularly meaningful to the communities in which the Knights serve. This Holy Hour program is inspired by Pope Francis’ encyclical letter Dilexit Nos (He Loved Us).

During the holy hour, an icon depicting the most famous image of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, painted in 1767 by Pompeo Batoni and now venerated in the Church of the Gesù in Rome, will be displayed.

The Sacred Heart Holy Hour will include readings from Sacred Scripture and reflections from Pope Francis on the Sacred Heart of Jesus, as well as the Divine Mercy Chaplet, prayers to the Sacred Heart, and time for silent prayer and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. The prayer service will lead all present to grow in their love of God and devotion to his Most Sacred Heart.

Following the event, families are encouraged to enthrone the Sacred Heart in their homes by placing an image of the Sacred Heart in a place of honor. This devotion was inspired by Jesus’ promise to St. Mary Margaret Alacoque to “bless every place in which an image of His Heart is exposed and honored.” The Knights of Columbus San Salvador Council are offering parishioners the opportunity to enthrone this icon of Jesus their home using a special ceremonial packet and enthronement resources that will be available for purchase.
