Congregation B'nai Israel Ohev Zedek Located in the heart of Northeast Philadelphia, Congregation B'nai Israel Ohev Zedek is home to a diverse, warm and welcoming community.

Congregation B'nai Israel Ohev Zedek (BIOZ) is a warm and welcoming orthodox shul for people from all walks of life with a love of Torah, tefillah, community and family. Conveniently located on the corner of Castor Avenue and Solly Avenue, the shul was built in the 1970's by two orthodox shuls (B'nai Israel and Ohev Zedek) to serve as the center of Northeast Philadelphia's frum community. Under th

e guidance of Rabbi Yehoshua Yeamans, shlita, the shul has become a hub of Jewish learning, including a daily early-morning Daf Yomi; a weekly Sunday Morning Breakfast and Learning; Tuesday Night Torah; a Women’s Winter Learning Series and a busy learning schedule on Shabbat and Motzaei Shabbat. The shul prides itself on being friendly and inviting to children of all ages. Toddlers and young children enjoy a Mom ‘n Tot program during Shabbat morning services, while older children join youth groups to daven, learn and play games. All the children earn points towards special prizes as part of the wildly-popular BI Points Program to encourage engagement and participation. Bnai Israel is also host to an abundance of special events and holiday programming for adults, families and children. Following Shabbat davening, Bnai Israel provides a beautiful and delicious weekly kiddush for everyone. Yom Tov/Shabbat hospitality and Mitzvah Meals are happily provided to shul members upon request.
