Stepping forth in faith together this week

We’ve all been there- standing on the bank of a situation that looks humanly impassable, wondering how on earth we’re going to get to the other side. This week, as we reflect on Joshua 3, I want to remind you that your "Jordan River" is not an obstacle to God; it is the stage for His next wonder.

Here is how we are stepping forth in faith together this week:

1. Fix your eyes on HIS Presence, Not the Problem

In Joshua 3:3, the command was simple: "When you see the ark... then you shall set out." The Israelites didn't move until they saw the symbol of God’s presence lead the way.We must fix our eyes on the Presence, not the problem. Sequence matters. If we focus on the height of the floodwaters, we’ll stay paralyzed on the shore. But when we wait for the Ark—when we wait for Christ—to lead, we move with divine authority.

As we learn to fix our gaze on Him, we realize that following God requires more than just a change in direction; it requires a change in our very hearts.

2. God desires Consecration to proceed encounter

Before the miracle happened, Joshua gave a striking order: "Sanctify yourselves" (v. 5). This wasn't about following a list of rules; it was about consecration. God’s wonders are given to a prepared people. Holiness is simply making room for God to act. It’s the "putting off" of old habits and the "putting on" of a new mind (Ephesians 4:22-24). This week, ask yourself: What needs to be surrendered so that I can participate in what God is doing?

Once our hearts are aligned and our eyes are fixed, we eventually reach the moment where preparation must turn into participation.

3. Get Your Feet Wet- Step forth in faith

The most powerful part of this story is that the river didn't stop flowing while the priests stood safely on the bank. The waters only parted once their feet actually touched the edge of the flood. Obedience precedes the miracle. Faith acts before the waters part. You might be waiting for God to dry up the path before you take a step, but God is waiting for you to step so that He can reveal the path.

Personal Reflection for your Week:

What "flood-stage Jordan" is God asking you to step into right now?

Remember: The Ark stays in the middle of the river until the last person crosses. Christ will not abandon you mid-crossing.

Obedient faith steps into flood-stage impossibility because it knows who holds the waters.

Let’s walk into this week with our eyes on the Ark and our feet ready to move. God is going before you.

Blessings,
Pastor Vinod Abraham
