MAY 31, 11 a.m. - June is PRIDE month and UUCOP extends a special welcome to our LGBTQIA+ neighbors to attend a watch party featuring Mary Almay. Mary is the subject of a documentary entitled "Mary, Her Journey from Pain to Purpose." Almay will be speaking from UU Gettysburg in a live-streamed "Fifth Sunday" service made available to Petoskey and four other congregations in the Mid-America Region.

UUCOP was led by a gay minister for a year until they moved to another state. During that year, we completed a series of studies and actions about LGBTQIA+ issues. Books relating to the gay community were purchased by UUCOP and donated to several public libraries in northern Michigan. Our congregation has been awarded official "Welcoming Congregation" status by the UUA.

UUCOP meets in a storefront location at 417 Howard Street, Petoskey. Join us live, stay for refreshments. Zoom connection also available.

Sunday, May 17 at 11 a.m. LIVE in our new storefront location at 417 Howard Street, Petoskey, and on Zoom:

Bring a flower, combine all flowers, take a flower -- that's the essence of what UUs call "Flower Communion." Also known as Flower Ceremony, Flower Festival, or Flower Celebration, the ritual service has become a metaphor for UU practices since 1923.

The beauty and diversity of flowers is seen as representing the beauty and diversity of life. The choice and contribution of a single flower by each congregant symbolizes the free will that guides UU faith. Joining the flowers in a shared central container illustrates the importance of Interdependence; and when each participant takes home the flower of their choice at the end of the service, we remember the value of equity.

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS MARCH 8...Spring forward this Sunday for our 11 a.m. Triangle Service featuring Rev. Rose Riedel of Marquette UU. She will speak about our response to the chaos of these times. "All of it Matters" - With so much happening in our country and our world, it is easy to feel overwhelmed, and it's easy to feel like you aren't doing enough. Let us explore how to center ourselves in the storm, and know, deep within ourselves, that each action - from the largest protest, to a simple postcard - matters. You matter.

SUNDAY, FEB. 22, 11 AM on ZOOM -- How to love the world? We ask, and Bob Lewis explores some of the possibilities. We may look at our ripped and bleeding earthly home with its deep visible wounds and even deeper hidden wounds, and feel overwhelmed by sorrow and shame. Bob says this is no time to give up. This is time for grace and renewal.
