Our Story
For over forty years Mennonite and Amish communities from across North America have organized sale events to benefit the work of Mennonite central committee in its domestic and global efforts to care for the hungry and the thirsty, the stranger and the naked, the sick and those in prison. MCC seeks to serve as peacemaker in all areas of human conflict, both by serving the needs of those victimized by conflict and by teaching ways to live peaceably. Begun in 2000, the peach cobbler Mennonite and Amish communities in the southeast join in this fundraising effort.
The 2018 sale is scheduled for September 14 - 15 at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry, Georgia. Featured items include handmade quilts, crafts, homemade and home-canned foods, soft ice cream, fairly traded third-world crafts, and of course, peach cobbler. Proceeds from this year's sale will support the relief work of Mennonite Central Committee, an organization dedicated to disaster relief, sustainable community development, and justice and peacebuilding in over 50 countries. The festivities begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, September 14. with a hymn sing, and a preview of Saturday’s featured sale items. Saturday’s activities open with a breakfast at 8:00 a.m. with the live auction of quilts and other handicrafts at 9:00 a.m.
