Our Savior Lutheran Church

Our Savior Lutheran Church Our Savior Lutheran Church of Perry, Michigan

Wisconsin Evangelical Lutheran Synod (WELS) Lutheran Synod, this new mission called its first pastor in 1979.

A little History:

Our Savior Lutheran Church started back in the late 70's when a group of Lutherans in the Perry area began worshipping together under the leadership of Lutheran pastors serving Wisconsin Synod Lutheran congregations in the area. With the assistance of the Michigan District Mission Board of the Wisconsin Ev. The small group of supporters then built the church's current worship

facility in 1984. Over the years, the congregation has been served by a number of pastors. Its current pastor, Rev. Randall Johnson, has been serving the congregation since 2003. He and his family live in Perry, a couple of blocks from the church. The congregation has experienced periods of growth over the years and some decline. But in all of its ups and downs, the congregation is thankful for the Lord's grace and blessings on its ministry of the gospel. Our Savior Lutheran Church currently serves about 125 souls with average weekly attendance of about 60-70. We intend to continue in the mission that this congregation's founders established nearly fifty years ago----to proclaim Christ, our crucified and risen Savior, as our sure and certain source of forgiveness of sins and eternal life.

Isaiah 55:6-11

Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on them, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire.”

1 Corinthians 3:5-11

What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe - as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building. By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.

Matthew 13:1-9, 18-23

That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. Then he told them many things in parables, saying “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soul was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced crop - a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was down. Whoever has ears, let them hear.”
“Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatched away what was down in their heart. This is the seed down along the path. The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”
