Don Laven
June 4, 1937 — May 15, 2026

In the sure and certain hope made real to us in the resurrection of Jesus, we share with the Nativity community that our brother in Christ, Don Laven died Friday May 15, 2026 at home surrounded by his loving family. Don and Audrey had recently relocated to Missouri to be closer to family.

Graveside service with full military honors will be held, Thursday, June 4, 2026 at 11:00 AM in Missouri Veterans Cemetery, 5201 South Southwood Road, Springfield, MO 65804.

For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39

On May 24th we celebrated Pentecost and the rite of confirmation for four of our youth. Charlotte Johnsen, Max Roehl, West Roehl, and Mara Winsor confirmed the baptismal promises once made over them, and affirmed their ongoing journey in faith by presenting beautiful statements of faith to the congregation. Be hopeful and proud church!

On Saturday, May 16, Nativity’s youth hosted a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for friends and family. Thank you to the youth, the parents who shopped for and donated food, and the church members who supported this event. Funds raised will help support next month’s trip to Camp Lutherock.
John Johnsen hosted a trivia contest. Only one point separated first and second place. The winning team included the Winsors, the Zudans, and Breanne Johnsen. Second place went to Abby Moore and Carole Rajan. Many thanks to those who put the night on and ate it up!

Acts 1:6-14 & John 17:1-11 The disciples stood between promise and uncertainty. Jesus had ascended, and they did not yet know what would come next. So they gathered. They prayed. They waited together. In Acts 1:6–14, we are reminded that faith is not meant to be lived alone. When questions ari...
