Sometimes waiting is the hardest thing to do.
I am a planner for the most part, don’t get me wrong- I like a good impromptu fun but when it comes to life and what’s ahead I am a thinker. If I have a plan I find comfort in being able to aim for something, but sometimes God wants me to be obedient even when the plan is taking a left turn through two valleys and I can see a train coming. I have experienced this in marriage, in parenthood, in my career, in ministry, pretty much everywhere. Gods design is to sharpen us and to get us to focus on the eternal, not the immediate and external. Ah but alas we struggle with “how will this affect me?” Syndrome.... and “how will this make me look?” Syndrome.... God says -“who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:31).
As you wait - as I wait - our strength comes from the Lord- if we allow Him to be our portion.
We all go through periods of waiting, let Him be your portion. Draw on Him, sit with him and love the sharpening as God prepares us for the next step in His calling for our lives.
