The other night I couldn’t go to sleep. I saw midnight, 1,2, then 3am. I tried everything to get sleepy, but a case of insomnia was upon me. Like in the past, I prayed for those who came to mind and as I was praying, this thought occurred to me.
Jesus, you did it anyway.
I knew that Sunday morning would soon be and the alarm would sound for me to prepare to leave. How do I go and function on a few hours of sleep? Jesus was up all night and He went anyway.
He walked back to the His chosen and told them to pray and watch. He told them three times (Matthew 26:36-46) but they continued to fall asleep. The weight of the world and all of our sins were on His mind. (Mark 14:32-42) He could’ve slept like the others, but He had a case of duty, of caring for us realizing that He would soon be betrayed and die on a cross, be buried in a tomb and rise again victorious.
I cried, “Jesus, you had to be so tired! As a man, you felt like we feel when we are tired and yet you stayed the course. You didn’t give in! You didn’t give up! You had a job to do!”
Luke 22:43 “And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.”
He hurt and was in agony and would go through betrayal, hear a loved one deny that he knew him, hear the crowd make fun of him, walk the street of Delarosa carrying the cross on His back which was heavy but not as heavy as the task at hand. He did it anyway.
He had a crown of thorns on His head, nails in His hands and feet, a spear through His side, pain we cannot imagine, but…
He did it anyway.
