The wealthy man and the poor man, the influential and the overlooked, the well-dressed and the worn — they all come to God on the same terms, purchased at the same price, standing on the same ground.

What Silver Could Never Do

For centuries, Israel paid the half-shekel. Generation after generation, the silver piled up in the Temple treasury. And every coin, every payment, every act of atonement was quietly confessing the same thing: this is not enough. The silver covers the requirement, but it cannot cover the soul.
