The second of the three Pilgrimage Feasts is called by three different names in Scripture including, Yom HaBikkurim which means Day of the Harvest, Chag HaShavuot which means Feast of Weeks and Pentecost which means Fifty. In Deuteronomy 16:9-12 we learn that G-d commanded His redeemed people to count seven weeks, starting from Resheet at the beginning of the spring harvest, until arriving at the end of the harvest fifty days later on Chag HaShavuot or Pentecost.

In this week’s Parasha the L-RD spoke to Moshe (Moses) again on Mount Sinai, also called Mount Horeb. This is the same location where G-d first spoke to Moshe from the burning bush. From the bush that burned but was not consumed, G-d told Moshe He would send him to bring the children of Yisra’el (Israel) out of rigorous slavery in Egypt. In this teaching G-d states the many blessings that would occur for the children of Yisra’el (Israel) if they obeyed His Word and followed the instructions that He gave them.

This week’s Parasha teaching is a unique chapter in our study of Leviticus and teaches us specifically about Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. This is to be observed on the 10th day of the 7th month of the year. The events of this week’s Parasha took place after Moshe (Moses) begged G-d to go with himself and the people into the Promised Land, making a distinction between them and all the people upon the earth (Exodus 33:16-17).

Chag Pesach Sameach! Happy Passover!

We invite you to join us in reflecting on the powerful message of redemption that this appointed time proclaims. Passover reminds us of G-d’s faithfulness to deliver His people and ultimately points us to the work of Messiah Yeshua, our Passover Lamb.

Here is Dr. Baruch's latest Passover article:https://virtuous-email.s3.amazonaws.com/Email/org_7852/Pesach%205786.pdf
