In our Kid’s Zone, this week’s Shavuot article and activities are now available.
The second of the three Pilgrimage Feasts is called by three different names in Scripture including, Yom HaBikkurim which means Day of the Harvest, Chag HaShavuot which means Feast of Weeks and Pentecost which means Fifty. In Deuteronomy 16:9-12 we learn that G-d commanded His redeemed people to count seven weeks, starting from Resheet at the beginning of the spring harvest, until arriving at the end of the harvest fifty days later on Chag HaShavuot or Pentecost.
