Overdue Kaleo update! The first 2 weeks have flown by and the time seems to just be disappearing. This summer is so sweet and I can already see growth in myself and others.

KLP trainings are one of the highlights of my weeks. Some things I’ve been learning is that leadership shows humility, leadership shows honor, and leadership shows sacrifice. Like in Philippians 2:3-8 Paul tells us to seek others above our own so I’ve been focused on finding ways to serve.

I finally started my job! WOOHOO!! I’m working at Rainforest Cafe in Disney Springs and it’s a blast. There are so many employees there who don’t know Jesus (I’d say about 95% of them) so I’m excited to see how God is able to use me and the other Kaleo people working there to be a light and share the gospel.

We had our first Evangelism Training as a big group and it was great. We then got to go share the gospel on the beach and Kelby and I were paired up. This was her first time sharing the gospel and I was so excited to get to be there! The girl she shared with decided she wanted to accept Jesus, praise God!!

One area I’m wanting to grow in this summer is scripture memory. Each week we have a verse that we have to memorize and each week we review the verses from previous weeks as well as the new one. As a KLP, we have been challenged to memorize a second verse at the same time. This summer we (the KLPs) are memorizing Philippians 2:3-11. Until recently I never understood the importance of it and honestly I thought it was dumb. I’ve always struggled to memorize things so now that I have not only 1 but 2 verses to memorize each week, I think it will be a good challenge for myself! I’m 3 for 3 so far on my verses!

This past Sunday-Tuesday was d-group weekend! The purpose of d-group weekend is to have a break from trainings, work, responsibilities and get to have fun and bond with our d-group. Groups go to different places (some went as far at the US Virgin Islands, Myrtle Beach, SC, and Savannah, GA) but my group went to Dunedin/Clearwater! We didn’t do a whole lot of activities but it was so nice to relax. Sunday was drove there then went on a sunset cruise in the evening. We got to see dolphins! Monday was went kayaking in Crystal Springs and saw manatees. Crystal Springs River was BEAUTIFUL! Then we had a photographer takes pictures of us on the beach. (I’ll post the pictures whenever we get them back.) Today we went the the beach for a bit, drove home, then had StuMo tonight.

Prayer requests:
•that we would have favor with our coworkers at Rainforest and that we would have opportunities to share the gospel with them
•that one of my sweet friends who is here at Kaleo would know that God is real and would accept Jesus into her heart

Recap of the first few days of Kaleo!

On Saturday we had Leader’s Training in Cocoa Beach then we went out to envangelize on the beach! That night we had a welcome party for all of the leaders. We played pickle ball, four square, basketball, and two-stepped a little (by “we” I mean everyone but me ((except for the two-stepping)) because I’m not cleared to do physical activity until mid-June)😅

Sunday morning we had KLP and Leaders Trainings! After that we went job hunting and I GOT A JOB!!🥳 I’ll be working as a Retail Pathfinder at Rainforest Cafe (my start date is still TBD)! Sunday afternoon all of the participants arrived and a welcoming pool party followed after!

Monday we had Orientation where we went over rules and expectations for the summer. There was time allotted for job hunting but since my d-group already all had jobs we got to have spend the time at the pool and settling in to our rooms. Monday night we had our first d-group night and went out to dinner!

Tuesday morning was Intro to World Prayer. We learned about the 10/40 window, the importance of praying for the world, and how many lost people there are in our world. Only 33% of the world are Christians and there are approximately 2.75 billion people who have never heard the name of Jesus. We had the afternoon to job hunt again so we went to the pool all afternoon. I definitely got a little too much sun😳 Tuesday night was StuMo night followed by two-stepping!

This morning we had KLP training and I’ve spent the rest of my day prepping for content and writing my schedule in my planner to prepare for everything to come!

It’s been a BLAST so far!!! Can’t wait for the next 8 weeks 🥰🥰🥰

Pictures from our 3 day road trip to Florida! The 20+ hours in the car and stops along the way have been so fun. We’re currently 30 minutes out from the resort we’ll be staying at!
