Members and from the Oklahoma City Region participated in the Order of Malta's annual pilgrimage to Lourdes.

Our role is to accompany the sick, who take the French name "malades" as they make their pilgrimage to the healing spring in Lourdes, where Our Lady appeared to St. Bernadette.

The malades who are to wash in the water and drink from the spring come seeking healing for a variety of serious illnesses. All hope for physical healing, everyone receives spiritual healing—even the volunteers and companions.

The week for our malades was filled with masses at the basilicas at Lourdes, a rosary procession, Eucharistic Adoration, confession, conferences, visits to the baths in the Grotto and time to pray, reflect and for fellowship.

This is a moving, powerful experience and fully represents our mission as knights and dames of the order, and for all of us as Christians.

Please pray for our malades as they return home.

Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us.
St. Bernadette, pray for us.

Archbishop Coakley, Msgr. Stansberry, and members of the Order of Malta celebrated our annual Mass of Healing at Our Lady's Cathedral. Prayers and the Sacrament of Anointing of the Sick were offered for those with a serious illness. Additionally, water from the Shrine at Lourdes, which members of the order received on pilgrimage, was offered to each congregant.

It was a night of prayer, beauty, and hope.

We have arrived back in Lourdes, back at the Grotto of our Immaculate Mother, for our annual pilgrimage, bringing our own intentions and those who have asked for our prayers.

“Immaculate Mary, our hearts are on fire!”
