Take a good look at these two pictures; one is at a rally in Virginia a little over a year ago when there was a threat against these citizens second amendment rights, the other was taken this morning in front of an abortion clinic here in Norman, Oklahoma.
Before I go any further I want to clarify that I am a strong supporter of the constitution and I am grateful so many stand for freedom, but we have to see a serious problem between these two images.
I am sure the many of those gathered in the first picture would profess to be Christian's, as most of us would as well. I cant help but see a serious problem. Are we so concerned for our weapons that we would march in the thousands to defy a tyrant to keep them but we cant find some time to storm these places of child sacrifice where on average 10 babies a day are murdered or rally at our Capitol to tell our lawmakers to defy the tyrannical court that established and upheld a ruling that allows for the murder of innocent babies? If only these babies had guns and a constitution that was ripped apart with them in the womb, then abortion would be stopped.
This abortion clinic is manned with men and women every day, usually one or two occasionally a few more, some show up to pray. We present the Gospel of Christ Jesus, we offer help, and we speak truth. All of these are in the Hope's that these women turn from this wickedness and look to Christ. Sadly, however, most of them refuse to listen, they refuse to hear the plea for them to have mercy on their children, most days are filled with grief and sadness as we watch dozens of women enter through these doors and within minutes their babies are ripped to pieces and thrown in the trash like common garbage. It's the sad reality of a ministry such as this, we go because we are commanded, we go because we love our Lord, we go because we love our neighbors. These women are about to commit a horrific crime in the eyes of God and someone needs to go and plead for them to repent, these babies are being slaughtered every day and they need a voice to speak out for them as they have no voice, these are our neighbors. But where are the people of God?
One of the most discouraging things about this ministry is the lack of concern and urgency in the church today. Part of this ministries focus is on giving churches the opportunity to get involved. We meet with pastors, speak at congregations, and offer training. I have been honored to speak at several of these churches and their enthusiasm to begin is encouraging yet for every one church who wants to help there are a handful who refuse.
It's time we speak truthfully about the condition of the church. It's time we realize that we are more concerned about our rights than the lives of the children who are being slaughtered in each of our towns. The church in America is, at best, luke warm if not dead. We are more concerned with winning elections rather than souls and our focus is on Fox News rather than the Cross. We have cast votes in hopes that legislation could be changed to regulate morality instead of spreading the gospel which is the only true answer to a wicked society. Voting is important and so is political involvement but it seems that we have lost our reason for remaining on this earth, to make disciples of all men.
You wont hear this in the pulpits because much of the American pulpit has been compromised to tickle the ears of those listening. We are more concerned with numbers than the personal holiness of those who fill the pews, and in doing so many of the pews are filled with dead men and women. Our lord spoke of those who thought they knew him, but he said to depart from him " I never knew you." These are "christians" who point to all they had done for him, yet he never had a relationship with them. The church must repent, the church must wake up, our King will not return to a soiled bride. We must all repent and mourn over our sin, complacency, indifference, and lack of obedience to our Lord. Do we have no concern for the things of the Lord? We seem more concerned with our 401ks, health insurance, and nation than we do about the Glory of our heavenly father.
I fear that most of this stems from a lack of God fearing shephards. We need men to rise up and stand on the truth God has given us. If we truly believe in a sovereign lord then why do we fear? Why are we so timid in proclaiming these truths. We should be the bravest men and women this world has ever seen. We do not serve a harp playing all loving no judgement god which modern christianianty paints. We serve a God whose robe is dipped in blood and who will pour out his wrath on the unrighteous, who sits victoriously on his throne as he is Lord over all and none can thwart his plans. He is coming back but not as a lamb but as a lion to have his vengeance on the ungodly.
Its time his people stand for his truth and fearlessly proclaim his gospel. Put down your remote and pick up his word. Let your heart be ever focused on Him. Grow callouses on your knees in prayer. Devote all you are to him because if you dont your life will amount to nothing. Everything on this earth will be burnt up it will all perish and all that will remain will be the eternal fruit you have bore. Will that fruit be of eternal life paid for by the blood of Christ or will it be the fruit of a life sowed in vain destined to an eternity of utter torment as you pay the penalty for your sin? Turn to Chirst he paid it all. If you have already then show it by being obedient and zealous for the good works which he has destined you to. We all must wake up.
