🌟 Small Business Tip Tuesday – Create Simple Systems

Simple checklists, procedures, and notes can save time, reduce mistakes, and help your business maintain consistency as it grows.

Many small businesses operate from information stored in the owner's head: how to open the office, process an order, respond to an inquiry, prepare for an event, follow up with a customer, or complete a routine task.

That may work when you're doing everything yourself—but what happens when you're busy, hire someone, take a vacation, or simply forget a step?

That's where simple business systems can help.

You don't need complicated software or a giant operations manual. Start by documenting the tasks you perform regularly.

A simple system might include:
✔ A checklist for opening or closing
✔ Steps for handling a new customer inquiry
✔ A process for preparing and sending invoices
✔ A follow-up checklist after a sale
✔ Instructions for frequently performed tasks
✔ Templates for common emails or responses
✔ A monthly list of administrative or marketing tasks

Good systems help you work smarter instead of reinventing the process every time.

They can also improve the customer experience. When everyone follows the same basic process, customers are more likely to receive consistent service—regardless of who is helping them.

Not sure where to begin? Pay attention the next time you complete a repetitive task. Write down each step as you do it. Then ask:

💡 Could someone else follow these instructions?
💡 Are there steps I'm forgetting when I'm busy?
💡 Could any part of this process be simplified?
💡 Is there a checklist or template that could save me time next time?

Your systems don't have to be perfect. They can—and should—change as your business grows and you discover better ways to work.

If you do something repeatedly, create a process for it.

A few minutes spent documenting a task today could save hours of frustration later—and make it much easier to train employees, delegate responsibilities, and grow your business.

💬 YOUR TURN!

What's one repetitive task in your business that could benefit from a simple checklist, template, or written process?

👇 Share it in the comments! You might even get an idea from another local business owner.

PATRIOT DAY — WE WILL NEVER FORGET

Today, the Greater Odenville Chamber of Commerce joins our community and our nation in remembering September 11, 2001.

We honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the first responders who courageously ran toward danger, the service members who answered the call, and the countless individuals whose lives were forever changed by that tragic day.

We also remember how Americans came together—with compassion, courage, generosity, and a shared commitment to help one another.

Twenty-five years later, may we continue to carry that spirit forward in our own community by supporting our neighbors, serving others, and remembering that we are stronger when we stand together.

Today, we pause. We remember. We honor.

We Will Never Forget.

Blessed Friends Celebrates One Year in Odenville Storefront with Ribbon Cutting & Open House | The Greater Odenville Chamber of Commerce and the City of Odenville joined local business and community members to celebrate the first anniversary of Two Blessed Friends Custom T-Shirt Designs with a ribbon cutting and open house at the company’s Odenville storefront.

Owner Tina Cole began Two Blessed Friends as a home-based T-shirt business, turning her creativity and entrepreneurial spirit into a growing enterprise. As demand increased and the business developed into a full-time operation, Cole began looking for a location that would allow her to expand beyond her home and better serve her customers.

She found that opportunity in Odenville, opening the company’s first storefront at 1500 US Hwy 411. Over the past year, Two Blessed Friends has continued to grow while remaining very much a family business, with Cole’s husband, daughter and sister all participating in the operation.

What began primarily as custom T-shirt design has expanded to offer customers even more options. The Odenville store features a T-shirt showroom, custom apparel and specialty gift items, and Two Blessed Friends recently added professional embroidery services for hats, shirts and other apparel.

The September 9 open house gave guests an opportunity to tour the store, see the variety of products and services available, meet the family behind the business and celebrate an important milestone for a local entrepreneur.

“The story of Two Blessed Friends is a wonderful example of what can happen when a small idea, hard work and community support come together,” said Ambere Ginn, the Greater Odenville Chamber of Commerce’s 2nd Vice-President. “Tina took a business she started from home, grew it into a full-time career and then invested in a storefront right here in Odenville. We are proud to celebrate her first year at this location and look forward to seeing what comes next.”

Customers can place orders in person, by phone, by email or directly through the Two Blessed Friends website, making it convenient for individuals, businesses, schools, churches, teams, organizations and others looking for custom apparel, embroidery and specialty items.

The Greater Odenville Chamber of Commerce congratulates Tina Cole and the entire Two Blessed Friends family on their first anniversary in their Odenville storefront and wishes them continued growth and success for many years to come.

🌾 FROM THE FIELD TO YOUR FORK! 🍽️
The Greater Odenville Chamber of Commerce is excited to help spread the word about the 2nd Annual St. Clair County Field to Fork Dinner, presented by the St. Clair County Farm-City Committee!

This special evening celebrates the people, farms and agricultural traditions that help make St. Clair County such a wonderful place to call home. 🚜🌽

This year's dinner takes us to Anderson Farm in Ashville, with locally sourced protein provided by Dye Branch Farms of Pell City. And once again, the talented culinary students from the Eden Career Technical Center will prepare and plate the meal! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

📅 Thursday, October 15, 2026
⏰ 6:00 PM
📍 Anderson Farm
734 Floyd Anderson Drive | Ashville, AL 35953
🎟️ Individual Tickets: $75
🍽️ Table of 8: $500

One of the things we love about this event is its mission. Field to Fork was created to promote local agriculture, involve the next generation and shine a spotlight on farms throughout St. Clair County. Each year, the dinner moves to a different location and provides an opportunity to discover more about the farms and producers right here in our own backyard.

Come enjoy an evening of FOOD, FELLOWSHIP & FUNDRAISING while celebrating agriculture in St. Clair County! 🌾❤️
