Temple of Thelema

Temple of Thelema A Mystery School of the New Aeon. Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law. An investment of time, effort, and commitment is expected from each member.
(1)

Temple of Thelema is a true Outer Order of the Greater Mysteries, providing ceremonial initiation; structured training; and regular group work, all in conformity with the principles of The Book of the Law. Each is expected to aspire fervently to the Great Work; to dare, with courage undaunted, to perfect that Work; and ever to apply his or her best effort to effect Harmony within the Order, and wi

thin the world in general. Founded in service to the A∴A∴, the College of Thelema seeks to guide the student to an understanding of the Law of Thelema. Most especially, this means a deeper understanding of oneself and of one's True Will. A combination of instruction techniques is employed, including seminars, written texts, and individual work. For over twenty years, the College of Thelema published the journals In the Continuum (1973-1996) and Black Pearl (1997-2003), maintaining high standards in Thelemic education. Love is the law, love under will.

Happening Tomorrow! Hope to see you there!

Details:

In this study group Brooke Stott will compare and contrast three ritual texts for invoking the Holy Guardian Angel: The Book of Abramelin, Liber VIlI (the ritual revealed in the vision of the 8th Aethyr), and Liber Samekh.

We’ll explore variations on a foundational formula to induce altered consciousness through ascetic practices of prayer, meditation, and ritual, with the goal of Knowledge and Conversation.

Some view grimoires and ritual texts as precise recipes that must be replicated with near perfection, while others see them as a formula, containing essential foundational elements integrated with personal preferences and relevant cultural contexts. Examining this series of texts provides an opportunity for a more nuanced exploration and discussion of this question of perfected replication.

Brooke Stott is a psychotherapist, researcher, and doctoral student at Columbia University, with a focus on self perception, psychedelic-assisted therapy, and transformational experiences.

An introductory class to Egyptian hieroglyphs presented by Tamara Wyndham

The word “Hieroglyph” means “sacred inscription”. Myth informs us that it was a gift to humanity from the God Tahuti (Thoth). This beautiful writing is a complex system of sound-signs and ideograms.

We will go over the basic principles of hieroglyphs. You will learn how to write your name, the names of some of the Gods, and some basic vocabulary. We will examine how hieroglyphs were used in spells and as amulets.
We will also read the hieroglyphs on the Stele of Revealing.
Additionally, we will share an exciting new translation of the part of the stele by scholar B Niall Bjørn Nielsen.

Location: Westbeth Community Room, 155 Bethune Street
(There is construction work in the building, but we will put up signs to guide you)

$10 suggested donation to pay for room rental.
