Today, we give thanks for the gift of work and for all those who labor each day to provide for their families, serve their communities, and make our world a better place.

Lord, bless all who work with their hands and minds. Give them strength, purpose, and joy in their daily work, and bless their families with peace and abundance.

Saint Spotlight: St. Grata of Bergamo

As we celebrate the feast day of St. Grata of Bergamo on September 4, we invite you to discover this devoted Christian woman whose courage, charity, and love for Christ made her a faithful witness to the Gospel. Her relics are enshrined in one of the altars at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

St. Grata is remembered for caring for persecuted Christians, providing Christian burial for martyrs, helping the poor, and serving those in need. She is especially honored for caring for the remains of St. Alexander of Bergamo, a martyr of the faith.

Tradition tells us that lilies sprang up where St. Alexander’s blood touched the ground, becoming a symbol of holiness, purity, and victory in Christ.

❤️ Growing Closer to Christ, Together ❤️

Today, our St. Mary’s parish and school staff had the blessing of spending the day together on retreat—taking time to step away from the busyness of our daily work and draw closer to Christ and His Sacred Heart.

Through prayer, reflection, music, and fellowship, we were reminded that our ministry begins with our own relationship with Christ and with one another. What a gift it is to serve together as we continue striving to live out the mission of St. Mary’s Catholic Parish and School in Oak Ridge.

A heartfelt thank-you to Rob Longo with Live Vertical for leading us in such a meaningful retreat, to Kristin Swabe for sharing her beautiful gift of music, and to St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church for graciously providing such a wonderful space for our day.

We are grateful for this time to pray, learn, grow, and reconnect—so that we may return renewed and ready to serve our parish community with even greater faith, joy, and love.

St. Mansuetis (Mansuetus), Bishop & Confessor

As we celebrate the Feast Day of St. Mansuetis on September 3, we invite you to discover this holy bishop whose relics are enshrined in one of the altars at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

St. Mansuetis, traditionally identified with St. Mansuetus of Toul, was an early bishop remembered for his holiness, wisdom, gentleness, and courage in spreading the Gospel. He faithfully shepherded his people, teaching the faith, celebrating the sacraments, and caring for his Christian community.

His name comes from the Latin mansuetus, meaning “gentle” or “meek,” a beautiful reminder of the virtue for which he was remembered.

🙏 St. Mansuetis, faithful bishop and servant of Christ, pray for us. Help us to grow in humility, wisdom, and love for God, and to be faithful witnesses to the Gospel each day.

👑 Celebrating Mary, Our Queen & Mother! 💙

Yesterday, our parish family joyfully celebrated the Feast of the Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary! 👑

In honor of Our Lady, we spent time learning about the sacred relics housed within our altars—a beautiful reminder of the saints who accompany us at every Mass. It was such a special experience for both children and adults!

✨ Our parish family loved seeing our teens dressed as saints, exploring saint cards, and getting the rare opportunity to view the altar stones up close. These moments helped bring our Catholic faith and the lives of the saints to life in such a meaningful way.

A heartfelt thank-you to Fr. Ray, Deacon Gary, and our wonderful teens for guiding us through such a beautiful, faith-filled celebration. Your time, knowledge, and love for our parish family made today truly special. ❤️

May Mary, our Queen and Mother, continue to guide our parish in faith, love, and devotion to her Son. 🙏💙
