PROFILES OF FAITH
“Choosing to Imitate those with a Refined and Faithful Faith”
The Crossings Church
5/31/2026

“Their purpose is to prove that your faith is genuine. Even gold, which can be destroyed, is tested by fire; and so your faith, which is much more precious than gold, must also be tested, so that it may endure. Then you will receive praise and glory and honor on the Day when Jesus Christ is revealed.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭1‬:‭7‬ ‭GNT‬‬

CHOOSING TO IMITATE THOSE WITH A FAITHFUL FAITH REQUIRES THAT…

1. I Choose to be Faithful to God in times of UNDENIABLE BLESSINGS

“Should I go on? There isn't enough time for me to speak of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, and the prophets. Through faith they fought whole countries and won. They did what was right and received what God had promised. They shut the mouths of lions, put out fierce fires, escaped being killed by the sword. They were weak, but became strong; they were mighty in battle and defeated the armies of foreigners. Through faith women received their dead relatives raised back to life. Others, refusing to accept freedom, died under torture in order to be raised to a better life.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭32‬-‭35‬ ‭GNT‬‬

“When I fed them, they were satisfied; when they were satisfied, they became proud; then they forgot me.”
‭‭Hosea‬ ‭13‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Every God-born person conquers the world’s ways. The conquering power that brings the world to its knees is our faith. The person who wins out over the world’s ways is simply the one who believes Jesus is the Son of God.”
— ‭‭1 John‬ ‭5‬:‭4‬-‭5‬‬ MSG‬‬

2. I choose to be faithful to God in times of DELAYED BLESSINGS.

“Through faith women received their dead relatives raised back to life. Others, refusing to accept freedom, died under torture in order to be raised to a better life. Some were mocked and whipped, and others were put in chains and taken off to prison. They were stoned, they were sawed in two, they were killed by the sword. They went around clothed in skins of sheep or goats—poor, persecuted, and mistreated. The world was not good enough for them! They wandered like refugees in the deserts and hills, living in caves and holes in the ground.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭35‬-‭38‬ ‭GNT‬‬

“We can’t allow ourselves to get tired of living the right way. Certainly, each of us will receive ⌞everlasting life⌟ at the proper time, if we don’t give up.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6‬:‭9‬ ‭GW‬‬

“I know your troubles. I know that you are poor, but really you are rich! I know the bad things that some people say about you. They say they are Jews, but they are not true Jews. They are a synagogue that belongs to Satan. Do not be afraid of what will happen to you. I tell you, the devil will put some of you in prison to test you. You will suffer for ten days. But be faithful, even if you have to die. If you are faithful, I will give you the crown of life.”
‭‭Revelation‬ ‭2‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭ICB‬‬

NOTE: This choice requires a COMPELLING faith, not just a CONFESSING faith.

““Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭21‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can [that sort of] faith save them? You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.”
‭‭James‬ ‭2‬:‭14‬, ‭19‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“…we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name’s sake,”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭5‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

“but now has been disclosed, and through the Scriptures of the prophets, in accordance with the commandment of the eternal God, has been made known to all the nations, leading to obedience of faith;”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭16‬:‭26‬ ‭

- Does my faith compel me to refuse to COMPROMISE regardless of the COST? Y / N

“…But others were tortured, refusing to turn from God in order to be set free. They placed their hope in a better life after the resurrection.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭35‬ ‭NLT‬‬

- Does my faith compel me to seek GOD’S APPROVAL over MAN’S APPLAUSE? Y / N

“Some were jeered at, and their backs were cut open with whips. Others were chained in prisons. Some died by stoning, some were sawed in half, and others were killed with the sword. Some went about wearing skins of sheep and goats, destitute and oppressed and mistreated. They were too good for this world, wandering over deserts and mountains, hiding in caves and holes in the ground.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭36‬-‭38‬ ‭NLT‬‬

- Does my faith compel me to be RESOLUTE regardless of the RESULTS? Y / N

“All these people earned a good reputation because of their faith, yet none of them received all that God had promised. For God had something better in mind for us, so that they would not reach perfection without us.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭39‬-‭40‬ ‭NLT‬‬

““Knowing the correct password—saying ‘Master, Master,’ for instance—isn’t going to get you anywhere with me. What is required is serious obedience—doing what my Father wills. I can see it now—at the Final Judgment thousands strutting up to me and saying, ‘Master, we preached the Message, we bashed the demons, our super-spiritual projects had everyone talking.’ And do you know what I am going to say? ‘You missed the boat. All you did was use me to make yourselves important. You don’t impress me one bit. You’re out of here.’”
— ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7‬:‭21‬-‭23‬‬

“But the person who endures to the end will be saved.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭24‬:‭13‬ ‭GW‬‬

PROFILES OF FAITH
JOSHUA: MARCHING IN FAITH
The Crossings Church
5/24/2026

“By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after the army had marched around them for seven days.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭30‬ ‭NIV‬‬

1. My faithfulness is CAUGHT from those who have GONE BEFORE me.

“The Lord would speak to Moses face to face, as one speaks to a friend. Then Moses would return to the camp, but his young aide Joshua son of Nun did not leave the tent.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭33‬:‭11‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the presence of all Israel, “Be strong and courageous, for you must go with this people into the land that the Lord swore to their ancestors to give them, and you must divide it among them as their inheritance. The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.””
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭31‬:‭7‬-‭8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭2‬:‭2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

2. Faithfulness STARTS when I receive an IMPOSSIBLE COMMAND.

“Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king and its fighting men. March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days.”
‭‭Joshua‬ ‭6‬:‭2‬-‭3‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬-‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

““For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭55‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

3. Faithfulness is FORGED in the SILENCE of REPETITION .

“But Joshua had commanded the army, “Do not give a war cry, do not raise your voices, do not say a word until the day I tell you to shout. Then shout!””
‭‭Joshua‬ ‭6‬:‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6‬:‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
‭‭James‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

4. Faithfulness REQUIRES marching TOGETHER, not ALONE.

“The armed guard marched ahead of the priests who blew the trumpets, and the rear guard followed the ark. All this time the trumpets were sounding.”
‭‭Joshua‬ ‭6‬:‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10‬:‭24‬-‭25‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.”
‭‭Ecclesiastes‬ ‭4‬:‭9‬-‭10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

5. To be faithful requires me KEEPING the PRESENCE of God CENTRAL.

“So Joshua son of Nun called the priests and said to them, “Take up the ark of the covenant of the Lord and have seven priests carry trumpets in front of it.” And he ordered the army, “Advance! March around the city, with an armed guard going ahead of the ark of the Lord.””
‭‭Joshua‬ ‭6‬:‭6‬-‭7‬

“God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭46‬:‭5‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭33‬ ‭NIV‬‬

6. Faithfulness breaks through when I WORSHIP BEFORE the VICTORY.

“The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the army, “Shout! For the Lord has given you the city! When the trumpets sounded, the army shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the men gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed; so everyone charged straight in, and they took the city.”
‭‭Joshua‬ ‭6‬:‭16‬, ‭20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

REMEMBER, starting with Abraham we saw this….

“As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not. Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.””
‭‭Romans‬ ‭4‬:‭17‬-‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed….”

PROFILES OF FAITH:
Moses: Faithful in the Fight
The Crossings Church
5/17/2026

“By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin. He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward. By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw him who is invisible.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭24‬-‭27‬ ‭NIV‬‬

1. In faith I refuse to let EGYPT DEFINE who I AM.

“By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭24‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” Romans‬ ‭12‬:‭2‬ a NIV‬‬

“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ,”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2‬:‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“…If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭1‬:‭10‬ b NIV‬‬

2. I faithfully SUFFER if it means STAYING TRUE to God.

“He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭25‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“In fact, everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,”
‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭3‬:‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“For it is commendable if someone bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because they are conscious of God. But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2‬:‭19‬-‭20‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭3‬-‭4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

3. I faithfully let God use me in SPITE of my FAILURE. (He is STILL FAITHFUL.)

“When Pharaoh heard of this, he tried to kill Moses, but Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to live in Midian, where he sat down by a well.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭2‬:‭15‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“My sacrifice, O God, is a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart you, God, will not despise.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭51‬:‭17‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭24‬:‭16‬ ‭NIV‬‬

4. I stop using WEAKNESS as an EXCUSE to faithful ACTION.

“But Moses said to God, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” And God said, “I will be with you...””
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭3‬:‭11‬-‭12‬a NIV‬‬

(It’s not about my “greatness”, but God’s presence.)

“Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.””
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭4‬:‭12‬ ‭NIV‬‬

5. I fight FAITHFULLY & PRAYERFULLY for God’s PEOPLE.

“But Moses sought the favor of the Lord his God.”
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭32‬:‭11‬a NIV‬‬

“But now, please forgive their sin—but if not, then blot me out of the book you have written.””
‭‭Exodus‬ ‭32‬:‭32‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people—”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭2‬:‭1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

6. I keep my eyes on God when the PROBLEM feels TOO BIG.

“By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw him who is invisible.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭27‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“For we live by faith, not by sight.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭7‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭18‬ ‭NIV‬‬

PROFILES OF FAITH: SARAH
Mother Sarah - Choosing Faith Over Fear
The Crossings Church
5/10/2026

“as Sarah was obedient to Abraham, calling him 'sir,' of whom ye did become daughters, doing good, and not fearing any terror.” 1 Peter 3:6 YLT

Choosing faith over fear happens when….

1. I trust God’s PROMISE and God’s TIMING.

“The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you. Then the Lord appeared to Abram and said, “I will give this land to your descendants...”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭12‬:‭1‬, ‭7‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“But Sarai was unable to become pregnant and had no children.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭11‬:‭30‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“And Sarah had faith. So God made it possible for her to become a mother. She became a mother even though she was too old to have children. But Sarah believed that the God who made the promise was faithful.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭11‬ ‭NIRV‬‬

“Then one of them said, “I will return to you about this time next year, and your wife, Sarah, will have a son!” Sarah was listening to this conversation from the tent. Abraham and Sarah were both very old by this time, and Sarah was long past the age of having children. So she laughed silently to herself and said, “How could a worn-out woman like me enjoy such pleasure, especially when my master—my husband—is also so old?””
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭18‬:‭10‬-‭12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Is anything too hard for the Lord?.””
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭18‬:‭14‬a ‭NLT‬‬

“All these people died still believing what God had promised them. They did not receive what was promised, but they saw it all from a distance and welcomed it. They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

(“A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.” Jesus was indignant. He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!””
‭‭Mark‬ ‭1‬:‭40‬-‭41‬ ‭NIV‬‬)

“Let us firmly hold the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10‬:‭23‬ ‭MEV‬‬

2. My faith leads to CONTENTMENT not COMPARISON.

“Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children, and she had a maidservant, an Egyptian, whose name was Hagar.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭16‬:‭1‬ ‭MEV‬‬

“Wherever there is jealousy and rivalry, there is disorder and every kind of evil.”
‭‭James‬ ‭3‬:‭16‬ ‭

“But godliness actually is a means of great gain when accompanied by contentment.”
‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭6‬:‭6‬ ‭NASB2020‬‬

3. I choose to TRUST GOD’S METHOD rather than mine.

“So Sarai said to Abram, “The Lord has prevented me from having children. Go and sleep with my servant. Perhaps I can have children through her.” And Abram agreed with Sarai’s proposal.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭16‬:‭2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“So Abram had sexual relations with Hagar, and she became pregnant. But when Hagar knew she was pregnant, she began to treat her mistress, Sarai, with contempt. Then Sarai said to Abram, “This is all your fault! I put my servant into your arms, but now that she’s pregnant she treats me with contempt. The Lord will show who’s wrong—you or me!” Abram replied, “Look, she is your servant, so deal with her as you see fit.” Then Sarai treated Hagar so harshly that she finally ran away.”
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭16‬:‭4‬-‭6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭14‬:‭12‬ ‭TLV‬‬

“Trust in Adonai with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬ ‭TLV‬‬

4. I accept GOD’S purpose for my life as BIGGER and BETTER than MY PLAN.

“So Sarah said, “God has made laughter for me! Everyone who hears will laugh with me.””
‭‭Genesis‬ ‭21‬:‭6‬ ‭TLV‬‬

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though our outward man is decaying, yet our inward man is renewed day by day. For our trouble, light and momentary, is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, as we look not at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen. For what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal.”
‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4‬:‭16‬-‭18‬ ‭TLV‬‬

“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8‬:‭28‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us,”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭3‬:‭20‬ ‭AMP‬‬
