What are your non-negotiables??

As a young mother, I struggled to fit time in for morning prayer and scripture study. My study was spotty at best.

But there came a time when I made up my mind that the Lord would come first no matter what!

This decision has made all the difference in my personal relationship with Jesus Christ. By deciding ahead of time that I would pray and read my scriptures everyday no matter what, I have come to know my Savior in a very personal way.

Not only has my relationship with Christ grown, but I've been able to be a better wife, mother, sister, and friend.

Whenever you sacrifice time to come closer to the Savior, the blessings received far outweigh any sacrifice.

The Book of Mormon is the best way I've found to put Jesus Christ first in my life. There is power in that book. Power to change even the hardest of hearts.

Pray daily. 🙏

Wishing you a blessed week!

The story of Alma the younger has been top of my mind recently as I've been fasting and praying to have my heart changed for the better.

I keep thinking that Alma's heart was changed in a matter of moments/days. And if his heart can be changed through the power of the Atonement of Jesus Christ, then mine can be too.

But as I've prayed and pondered about it, I've come to realize that not all change of hearts need to happen or even should happen so quickly.

I think sometimes it's okay to sit with some hurt feelings or disappointments. It's okay and good for us to continue on in faith in Jesus Christ even when things are hard, even if we don't feel worthy of His bounteous gifts, even if we are struggling with very real human emotions.

The fact is, that even through all the struggles, He still brings peace to my soul and for right now, that's enough. I can hang on in faith, trying my best to change and let go of hard feelings, striving to follow Him, although imperfectly, because I know in the end, it will all work out because of Jesus Christ. 💞

"How beautiful are [the Waters of Mormon] to the eyes of them who there came to the knowledge of their Redeemer" (Mosiah 18:30).

As I read this passage in the Book of Mormon, I reflected on where my "Waters of Mormon" are. Where did I come to know the Lord?

For me, I came to know the Lord as I went through trials. There was a time when I was fighting for my life in a hospital and I felt the Savior near. That scary time that used to carry such heaviness is now a beautiful time when I came to know of a surety that the Savior keeps His promise to be with me as I strive to keep my promises to Him.

That is just on example of when my testimony has been strengthened through trials. I know that as we turn to the Lord in our trials and allow Him to share our burdens, we will come to know Him. He will be by our side, and those times and places will become things of beauty to us.

Enduring to the end is JOY! As we navigate this world, trying our best to follow the Savior, we find joy along the way.

King Benjamin said, "...if ye have known of [God's] goodness and have tasted of his love, and have received a remission of your sins, which causeth such exceedingly great joy in your souls, even so I would that ye should remember, and always retain in remembrance, the greatness of God, and your own nothingness, and his goodness and long-suffering towards you, unworthy creatures, and humble yourselves even in the depths of humility, calling on the name of the Lord daily, and standing steadfastly in the faith of that which is to come, which was spoken by the mouth of the angel.

And behold, I say unto you that if ye do this ye shall always rejoice, and be filled with the love of God, and always retain a remission of your sins; and ye shall grow in the knowledge of the glory of him that created you" (Mosiah 4:11-12).

As we strive daily to follow the Savior, our natures will gradually change so that we no longer desire to do anything that will separate us from God. "When the focus of our lives is on Jesus Christ, we can feel joy regardless of what is happening or not happening in our lives" (Russell M. Nelson, October 2016).

What a blessing it is to have the gospel of Jesus Christ in my life! Even when times are hard, as I look to the Savior, I find peace and rest. I can JOYFULLY endure

May God bless you to find peace and joy in your life this week! 💞

The Lord's love is apparent in Jacob chapter 5. "What could I have done more for my vineyard?" It's a question asked by the Lord several times throughout the chapter. We see that the Lord and His servants labor diligently and tirelessly to bring the vineyard back to life.

You can remember this when you feel alone. Know that the Lord is doing everything in His power to bring you back to Him. He will keep trying and send multiple opportunities for you to turn back to Him. The gift of repentance and forgiveness is real. The Lord loves you! He wants you come and be with Him.

I love thinking about this! Too often we think we have to be perfect before God's grace steps in. God didn't send us here thinking that we would be perfect. He knew we would mess up and He had a plan all along. Christ wasn't the plan B in case Adam and Eve messed things up. He WAS the plan all along.

2 Nephi 10:24, "it is only in and through the grace of God that ye are saved."

vs. 25, "may God raise you from death by the power of the resurrection, and also from everlasting death by the power of the atonement, that ye may be received into the eternal kingdom of God, that ye may praise Him through grace divine. Amen."

Jesus Christ is the way. He was and is the plan. Through Him we can repent and be resurrected. It is all made possible because of Him.

Wishing you a blessed week! 💞

Have you ever thought about the connection between the love you have for Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ and how often your heart is drawn out in prayer?

I've had times in my life where I literally feel like I'm walking with Jesus. Most of those times have been hard times when He's had to carry me. But I recently had a few weeks where my heart seemed constantly drawn to my Heavenly Father in prayer. There wasn't anything super difficult going on in my life, but I was searching for answers and had a deep yearning to feel close to my Father in Heaven. It's a wonderful feeling to have the Spirit with you always just as promised in the sacramental prayers, to feel guided every hour by His love.

It seems that is difficult to achieve in today's world. As you can tell by the past tense verbs, that special time where I felt constantly in communication with Heavenly Father didn't last very long. BUT, it's something I continue to strive for each day because I know that as I always turn to my Savior and Heavenly Father, they will reach out to me, so much so, that I will feel them with me always. I can be in communion with them always.

What a blessing! That blessing is available to all who seek it. We can seek it by first loving Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ enough to WANT to commune with them always.

From the Book of Mormon:
"But behold, I say unto you that ye must pray always, and not faint; that ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ, that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be for the welfare of thy soul."

Pray Always.

There is NO OTHER WAY! Following the Savior is not only desirable, it is NECESSARY to return to our Father in Heaven.

I love the plain and simple testimony of Christ found in The Book of Mormon. It is truly the word of God, giving His children a second witness of His Beloved Son.

This witness is so needed in a darkened and chaotic world full of distractions. For me, reading from this sacred text is a necessary part of my day.

President Oaks said, "...if you don’t have the Holy Ghost, you will be deceived." Reading from The Book of Mormon every day is the best way I know to invite the spirit into my life daily.

I challenge you to read from the Book of Mormon each day and you will see the spirit increase in your life. ❤

I love that the Come Follow Me manual shows how the Nephites used the story of Moses to strengthen them in their hardships.

It mentions Nephi using this story to bolster his brothers, King Limhi encouraging his captive people, and Alma testifying to his sons of God's power.

We too can follow their example. We can look to Moses' story and know that God will deliver us out of our bo***ge as well.

We may not be enslaved physically, but many of us are enslaved spiritually. This world is plagued with addictions of all kinds. Social media, food, gaming, phones, shopping, drugs, & alcohol. The list can go on and on.

I see addictions as anything that robs you of your choice to focus on the Lord. When we put other things above the Lord, that's a problem.

President Nelson said it best, "As you think celestial, you will find yourself avoiding anything that robs you of your agency. Any addiction—be it gaming, gambling, debt, drugs, alcohol, anger, po*******hy, s*x, or even food—offends God. Why? Because your obsession becomes your god. You look to it rather than to Him for solace" (Think Celestial, October 2023).

The good news is that we, too, can look to the story of Moses and know for certainty that God will help deliver us from whatever bo***ge we find ourselves in. God is a God of miracles. Whatever situation we are in can be overcome through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Wishing you a blessed week! ❤
