Our Scudder Hall Galley will host our annual Thanksgiving Special Meal this Tuesday, 25 November 2025 from 1100-1300. The cost is $7.10/person and the meal is open to all with access to our installation.

Join us for our upcoming su***de prevention workshops in October & November! All workshops are open to active duty military, authorized dependents, and civilian employee.

safeTALK is a four-hour workshop focused on equipping persons with the skills to recognize when someone may be struggling with su***de and help activate more immediate care. A maximum of 30 seats are open for this event, and participants must be 15 years or older.

ASIST, or Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training, is a worldwide workshop designed to empower participants in confronting su***de thoughts & guide a person back to safety in the present. A maximum of 30 seats are open, and participation over both days (5-6 Nov) is required.

***MOTTO MONDAY***
What would the world look like if we all tried to be more understanding? We might be slower to anger, slower to make assumptions, and slower to make accusations. We could value those who differ from us, care more about their hardships, and maybe discover more peace within ourselves. We would be able to love well. We cannot love what we do not understand, and we cannot understand when we are uninterested and disconnected. Though we cannot connect to everybody, we can try to understand an individual through their experiences, thinking, and principles, and share ourselves in kind. It might not change the world, but it could impact their world.

Have you ever been humbled by an action of forgiveness? Perhaps been confused by it? It can be easy to rejoice in the mercy we have received while feeling unsettled or even offended by the mercy given to others. Our practice of reconciliation is but a reflection of God’s capacity, though God’s perfect mercy can seem obscure, unfamiliar, and far beyond what we could ever extend. God’s ways are higher than ours. When the world feels too strange or unjust, we are challenged to rest in the truth that God understands everything and all shall be well.

Living a life of justice, kindness, and humility sounds like a simple way to please God, but it’s far easier said than done. It can mean choosing a path that runs contrary to the world around us. Our natural inclination is to cut corners, think selfishly, and strive for recognition. God asks us to grow our nature in ways that make sacrifices for others, and we do not grow alone. God walks beside us, making our way clear. The path we learn to follow may not always look like the American dream, but it leads to a life richer and more abundant than we could ever imagine.

Being in the world & belonging in life can be daunting among so much activity. We may look at where others are in life -- pursuing their ideas, hopes, and dreams -- and feel like we do not measure up. Or maybe we feel like we’re farther along and better off. Whether stuck in a jetty or floating freely, every life persists down the same open way. The challenge for us can be how to belong in the waters of our life and foster space for neighbors to float in their own way toward the sea of Life.
