Sometimes I look back at the crazy things I have done, the things in life that caused me to have setbacks, the things that were painful (physically or emotionally), and I am able to see how God has used every single one to grow me into who I am today. I can also see how He has used those things to allow me to minister to others going through similar things. Isn't that just like God? He never wastes a hurt, His Word never falls void, and He will use us any vessel that is willing.

When God placed books in me, I didn't have a clue how to get them out. I started plucking along at them, but I wasn't really actively writing. I didn't really know how. I had no idea what next right steps to take. I didn't know how to start the project, because I was so concerned about how to finish. As it turns out, I found that the first step to writing a book is simply writing the book! The other things all come after the initial writing is done.

Through the process God showed up and He showed out for me. He has placed people all around me who could help me with the next right steps. It has been rather painful at times. I had to learn the ropes and figure out the ins and outs of publishing. I joined groups, attended workshops, tried out lots of programs to find the ones that I could use best for formatting and making book covers. There was a huge learning curve. Technology isn't my strong suit, but here I am. Through trial and error- and many mistakes, here I am. The Seer in Me was published September, 2022 and Faith Matters (which I thought would be published the same year) is in the editing stage and finally moving right along now too!

And guess what! The Lord has been using the ups and downs, twists and turns, trials and errors I went through-by placing people in my path who have books inside of them. He is allowing me to help them find their way. It is truly amazing to see. I have had so many people ask me about the process. I am so thankful for the things I have learned that I am able to share with others.

God has been using this writing season and this journey I’m on to form friendships and build relationships. He has plugged me into a community of Christian writers and ministers who encourage me and lift me up. And He is allowing me to be that for others. Wow. Just WOW! Look at God GO! Praise Jesus!

I encourage you today, if God has called you to do something that is outside of your comfort zone, step out on that ledge with Him. Do it! Allow Him to grow you through the uncomfortable places and to strengthen you through the stretching. It’s always worth it when we follow God’s lead. It’s not really “taking a risk” if God is the one who told you to take the step. Take His hand and step out in faith. Take the action needed to grow yourself from faith to faith. I’m praying for you as you do!

“Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift, that’s why we call it the PRESENT.” 🎁

This quote has been attributed to many people over the years, including cartoonist Bill Keane, Eleanor Roosevelt, and author A.A. Milne. I have no idea which if any of those are true, but this is one of my favorite sayings. It is SO true. We need to learn to enjoy the gift of each and every day.

Yesterday is history. Probably the most notable lesson on looking back, comes from the story of Lot and his family. They were saved from the punishment of the sins in their city, but they only had to obey one order. DON’T LOOK BACK! Ummm. I’m a seer and I like to SEE what is going on around me. Telling me not to look is a hard rule for me to follow. My need for taking a peek is about as tempting as the need to touch when I see a “Wet Paint” sign. Don’t laugh at me- laugh with me, you KNOW you do it too!

But when God says “Don’t look back”, He’s not messing around! We are supposed to keep our eyes on the prize ahead- forgetting that which lies behind us. I think about the dumpster fires in my “rear view” and how at times I’ve been tempted to look back. There have been a time or two I’ve made a u-turn, even. But nothing good ever comes from focusing on or dwelling on the past. When God moves us on from a time, a place, a season (and those He used to grow us there) it is time to move forward- eyes on Christ- focused on the place He has for us in the current season.

I said “focused on the place He has for us in the current season”. If we aren’t careful, we can start day dreaming about future seasons and get off our course in the current. We are to live in the gift of today. Give us THIS DAY our daily bread. Think about the lesson we learn from scripture about the manna. Each day is a gift. His mercies are new each morning. I’m not saying it isn’t okay to plan, God gives us knowledge, wisdom, and insight into things. Sometimes we do need plan ahead because we have a hope for the future. What I want you to focus on here us that we can’t get so caught up in worrying about what tomorrow will bring that we aren’t living in TODAY. God is already in tomorrow, He’s waiting on us to get there. Let’s let Him be concerned with the things that only He can control.

This my friends, is The Day! This is the day that The Lord has made for us. From sunrise to sunset it is a uniquely beautiful gift that we will never get to experience again. We should allow Him to speak to us in the here and now. We should be present in the room with those surrounding us in this day. We should use our eyes and ears to see and hear all the blessings God has opened up for us in this day- this gift- the present He has gifted us with today. We can’t change the past and we can’t control the future- but we can surely REJOICE and be GLAD in the PRESENT!

God leaves me in awe every time He comes through in the 11th hour with provision. Every mission trip I’ve ever been on, every assignment He’s ever given me, every time He has ever said “Give ____ this amount.” It never fails- He provides. He provides the finances and He provides the wisdom and knowledge needed for the assignment ahead. I said to Him- “I could not do any of this without Your provision, You know what my bank account looks like”. And do you know what He said to me- “I am not checking your bank account! I’m testing your faith account!” So many times in life He has reminded me of this, and so many times I just have to choose to “faith”.

How many times have you missed an opportunity because the Lord was testing your faith account, but all you could see was your bank account? (Before I learned to walk by faith and not by sight- I know I missed out on many!)

God has taught me over the years to never rob someone of the opportunity to bless, and to always look for ways to be a blessing. We can’t out give God. He will give us back double for our trouble when we are quick in the spirit to hear and obey what He is asking us to step out in faith to do. And He never calls us to an assignment that He doesn’t already have the way made for us to fulfill.

Sometimes the biggest stretch of faith is waiting on His timing. As we read about Lazarus, even when He is 4 days late He is still right on time. Once we begin to understand that God is never late, we begin to wait differently. We don’t have to try to figure it out. We don’t have to try to make adaptations or throw out a fleece. All we have to do is rest in the blessed assurance of knowing the God we serve is going to show up- right on time, with whatever it is we need in the moment. Hallelujah! What a mighty God we serve.

I often have people ask me to help them discern whether or not they should do something. Usually it’s something someone else presented them with, and they are on the fence as to whether or not it’s right for them. One of the first things I always ask is “What do you “feel” when you think about doing it?” The reason I ask this question is simple, if they feel peace, we know peace is from God. But if they feel doubt, chaos, confusion, fear, stress, or anxiety- or any other unsettled feeling, then we know it isn’t from God. These feelings people often refer to as “gut feelings” are actually discernment.

My advice is this: ALWAYS follow your peace.
Pray about it, and that very first feeling you get after you pray, that is Holy Spirit guiding you in the direction you need to go. Shalom!

It’s odd to me when people tell me they don’t hear from God. I find Him speaking to me at some of the craziest times. For example: while putting up new blinds He was talking to me about how the job of the blind is to block or filter the light. He reminded me that as Christ Followers our job is to BE the light. Then He said “Watch out or those who try to block or filter your light”.

At first I wasn’t even sure what that meant. I started pondering the statement. Then I started seeing how there have been times the enemy has used people (unbeknownst to them) to block or filter the light in me. At times I have allowed my words to be filtered or held back based on the people around me. There have been times I didn’t worship as boldly because of where I was and who was around me. I have even filtered the way I pray, based on what others might think, say, or feel.

Forgive me Lord, for allowing others to block and filter the Light I carry. Thank you for growing me into the place where I no longer bend to the systems of the world around me, but instead I now yield to the Holy Spirit within me. Lord, help me to ALWAYS allow my light to SO shine before mankind- that they might see You through me. In the Name of Christ Jesus, Amen!

Often while cleaning house or doing mundane chores, when my mind is clear of other things, the Lord uses that time to speak to me. One day while doing my cleaning routine, I heard the Lord telling me something and He said the word “until” and then He told me to say “until”- so I said out loud in a big voice “until”. (Just like I do at church when Pastor tells us to repeat something.)

You might think that when asked to repeat words from a message being delivered it’s to see if you were listening or trying to keep you awake and on your toes- and that might be partially true, but it’s key words we want to make sure you catch. God often talks to me the same way. He wants to make sure I catch those key words and phrases.

“Until”- this indicates a waiting period. “Therefore”-you better look back and see what it’s there for. “If” and “then” go hand in hand- one things is dependent upon the other.

When the Lord tells me to do ____ UNTIL ____. And then He has me to repeat that “until”. You better believe I am listening. And I am going to wait it out- because when He tells me “until” something arrives- I KNOW that something is on its way. I can know in the spirit it’s a done deal and I’m living it out in the natural waiting to see the natural manifestation. You better believe I am going to be standing on Hebrews 11:1 in the waiting when the Lord says “until”.

I encourage you to listen for the key words when God is speaking to you. Look for them when you read the Word of God. There is so much that we can look over and skate right past if we aren’t careful to pay attention.

When we partner with God and press in with prayer, we shift the atmosphere. Circumstances change. God moves. God does not NEED us to pray for Him to intervene, but He WANTS us to- He created us to be in partnership with Him. He designed us with Kingdom business in mind. We GET to participate in our Father’s business. What a privilege to be a child of The King. 👑

I was just thinking about graduation, it’s about that time again. Littles graduating Kindergarten, Bigs graduating Elementary and Middle, Seniors graduating High School and College. Our Facebook feeds will soon be filled with all the photos. With every completion there is a graduation to the next phase. God began to speak to me about how that is also true in the spirit realm. As Christians we can’t stay babies forever. We can’t rely on milk to bring proper nourishment forever. We have to grow and learn, we have to graduate and apply.

I was just reflecting on how sometimes we graduate ahead of others, and other times it might take us a minute to catch up and get to where someone else might be. We aren’t in competition with one another. The rate we grow isn’t as important as it is that we grow.

More often than not with growth comes change. We have to be transplanted into a new place with new people- like minded people, people with similar faith and vision- and a similar skill level. A place we can be properly nourished for our current state. A Kindergartner and a Middle Schooler might enjoy one another’s company occasionally, but let’s face it- they would both prefer to be around those with similar interests and levels of understanding.

It is absolutely possible to “outgrow” people, places, and things we once found delightful. It is okay for people to walk in different directions, to live into different visions, and to be exactly who we have grown into during the season and place we find ourselves at the moment.

Graduation is a time for celebration. We don’t have to be sad or feel guilty that we’ve outgrown a place, or a season. Not even when we might have outgrown people from that place or season as well. We don’t have to apologize for learning and growing.

If you find yourself graduating from a season, I encourage you to walk into the next with your head held high. Flip that tassel and cross that stage. You’ve earned it. Now bloom in the season you are IN.

Even things that are seemingly impossible are made possible through Christ Jesus. Sometimes the enemy plants seeds in our head, like "You could never do that" or "That will never work"...and he is right, not in our own might. But God!

When God plants a seed, when He gives the dream, when He guides the vision- OH YES WE CAN! Believe that! It’s scripture! We can do ALL things through Christ who gives us strength!

Philippians 4:13 "I can do ALL THINGS through Him who strengthens me."

All means ALL, y'all!

Hebrews 11:1 tells us “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Faith requires action. Faith brings things unseen into the seen. Our believing changes the circumstances. Jesus said in Matthew 11:24 “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

Don’t doubt in the darkness what the Lord has told you in the light. Don’t allow circumstances to dictate your words. The power of death and life are in the tongue. Our prayers have the ability to pull Heaven down. “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done- on earth as it is in Heaven”.

Speak life into the circumstances, call things that aren’t as though they are. Partner with God through prayer- and BELIEVE. Expect the signs, wonders, and miracles that the Word of God says SHALL FOLLOW those who believe.

WWJD was a huge movement back in my day. You can still find bracelets and merchandise with WWJD on them. I have noticed that today WWJD has been twisted to fit the narrative. Society is rapidly changing. People are quick to use “What would Jesus do?” as a way to condone sin. They think because Jesus taught love, that He overlooked sin, but that couldn’t be further from the truth.

I know exactly what Jesus would do. It’s found right there in His Word. For example- the week leading up to the day He went to the cross blameless of any sin to pay full price for MY sin and your sin- on Monday He was teaching lessons about bearing fruit by cursing the fig tree, and He was so fed up with what was going on in the temple that He walked in and flipped tables in what I believe was a righteous anger at what He found taking place in His Father’s house.

When He was hanging on the cross YES He said “Father forgive them for they know not what they do”. But that’s because He KNEW what HE was doing. He was on that cross for them, just as much as He was for me and for you. But there was not a time in His life that He wasn’t pointing to the Father, to Heaven, and to Himself, the Living Word of God.

What would Jesus do? He would love them enough to speak truth and show them the Way. He is the ONLY Way. He is the Truth. He is the Life. There is no other way to the Father but through Christ Jesus. (John 14:6)
