Hey Fam - about 2 wks ago I received an email regarding a major problem the Mustard Seed Foundation had. This problem was they had money they needed to get into the hands of churches but churches had not been applying for Foundation Grants. If you are looking for some money for a new project your church is doing please check out the Mustard Seed Foundation.
Here are the requirements for applying for MSF Grants:
- Only a congregation smaller than 1,000 members can apply for our funding.
- As God continues to allow us to do new granting, we will be looking to grant to congregations that are within the Boroughs of New York City. We are not looking to grant outside the five Boroughs.
- We will be looking to partner with congregations with a parish mentality; that are ministering to the people in their own specific neighborhoods. We will first be looking to partner with diverse local churches that are led by indigenous and/or minority leadership.
- MSF does not fund building projects of any kind.
- MSF does not fund vans or vehicles.
- MSF does not fund administrative positions.
- MSF does not fund ongoing operating costs.
- MSF does not fund Christian Schools or Bible Schools.
We consider awarding up to 50% of the costs of the project. We will only look to match what the church gives from tithes and offerings. We do not match in-kind gifts or giving from outer congregations or individuals.
If we award a grant, we will give up to 12 months for the church to give its matching funds. We do consider multi-year grants – up to three years.
The projects that first impact believers (costs of mentoring and discipleship projects) have a limit of $5,000 for the first year of granting.
The limit to outreach grant awards is the caveat that we will not give more than 50% of the project cost, and not give more than your church’s cash giving to this project. We have helped outreach projects as small as $1,200 and as large as $45,000.
We require that all grant applications come to me via email in Word format, without any logos, photos, footers or headers. I can help you with the application and make sure the grant application is complete when we send it to our Board of Directors for a decision. There is no deadline to apply as we accept grant applications each day and have decision meetings each week.
How shall we picture the Kingdom of God? It’s like a mustard seed. MARK 4: 30-32 The Mustard Seed Foundation is a Christian family foundation established in 1983 under the leadership of Dennis W. Bakke and Eileen Harvey Bakke. The Foundation was created as an expression of their desire to be faith...
