When you receive "a word," whether it's from the Lord, from someone else, or maybe even from the enemy, the #1 way to test it is to see if it lines up with God's word. Because God's voice will never contradict His word.

As much as we want to make Noah, Moses, or Jonah the heroes in the Bible stories, that only works if we use only the "good" parts of their stories.

So why are those stories in there?

Because they show us who God is. And HE is the hero of the story. Always.

There's a difference between reading the Bible and studying it.

Reading the Bible gets you through the chapter. Studying it is what actually gets you through life.

A lot of us have done the first one for years without ever being taught the second. We finish the reading plan, close the app, and by lunchtime we can't remember a word of it.

This week on Hearing Jesus, we're breaking down the real difference between reading and studying Scripture, and why that difference is where you start to recognize God's voice.
