Yom Kippur Appeal 5781
September 14, 2020 - כ"ה אלול תש"פ
Dear friends,
As we have done in prior years, our Yizkor appeal for this coming Yom Kippur will be for the Bedek Habayis of our Shul.
The funds collected from this appeal will be used to cover our operating expenses and building maintenance costs.
Keep in mind, this year is different. The Shul has not rented out its social hall since March. The Senior Center has not been open since March. The NYC approved cooling center has not been open this summer. Due to social distancing we are selling far fewer Yamim Noraim seats than in a regular year, plus we have the additional expense of renting the tent. Our dinner where we hoped to raise much needed funds has been postponed three times and as of now is scheduled for Spring 2021. Sadly, the virtual Pesach and Shavuot Yizkor appeals didn’t bring in anywhere close to their usual amount.
In addition, as a result of the pandemic, many of our members cannot afford to be as generous as they have been in the past. Some cannot even afford basic membership. As some of you have noticed, the roof has some very bad leaks and needs replacing before the winter. This repair will cost into the six figures.
Bottom line - The Shul has lost much of its income for this past year and needs your help.
Your donation will enable the Shul to continue to provide its many services to the community and serve as a true Mikdash Ma'at.
May Hakadosh Baruch Hu grant us all much Simcha, Mazal & Bracha for the coming year!
Wishing you and your families a Kesiva V'Chasima Tova.
