Letter of Eulogy and Tribute
Upon the Passing of the Splendor of the Generation,
The Great Rabbi, Maran Rabbi Meir Nissim Mazuz zt"l
Rosh Yeshiva of “Kiseh Rachamim”
To his dear students, his precious family, and to all who cherish his Torah and recognize the greatness of our revered Rabbi zt"l,
With heavy sorrow and aching hearts, we received the bitter news of the passing of the great Torah scholar and halachic authority, Maran Rabbi Meir Nissim Mazuz zt"l — a pillar of Torah and instruction, a spiritual leader unparalleled in our generation.
Our revered Rabbi zt"l, known by all with the honorable acronym "Na'aman" (Nissim Meir Mazuz), illuminated our world with the light of his pure Torah, his exceptional wisdom, his honest and profound analysis, and his clear halachic rulings. He held high the crown of Sephardic Judaism, especially the tradition of the sages of Tunisia, guiding generations of students on the path of truth, with awe of Heaven, love for Israel, and precision in observance of Halacha.
As the Rosh Yeshiva of “Kiseh Rachamim,” he elevated the stature of Torah and established a spiritual sanctuary from which Torah radiated to thousands. His classes were filled not only with vast knowledge but also with deep inner spirit — combining the simple meaning (p’shat), homiletics (drash), mystical teachings (sod), and allusions (remez) — as one of the great sages of past generations.
He was a loving father to his students, possessed a sharp eye and a sensitive soul to the hardships of the generation, and above all — a voice of truth, undeterred by fear or favor.
On behalf of all the judges of the Beit Din “Chok Natan,” we mourn this great loss and express our heartfelt condolences.
May his pure memory be a blessing. May it be G-d’s will that we merit to continue in his path and that we all be comforted with the consolation of Zion and Jerusalem, speedily in our days, Amen.
With great respect,
On behalf of the Beit Din:
The esteemed rabbis:
