With federal attacks on workers’ rights and an unstable economy, our leaders must do more to ensure women’s contributions to the workforce are valued and fairly compensated! It’s time to take action for . In New York, this is just one way we are engaging our hard work to strengthen and expand pay transparency efforts. Not enough men ally.

Not enough men know how to speak out and mitigate gender bias when they see it, and engage in making change in their own behavior, encourage others to engage in making change, or to leverage their power to make change in organizational practice and policy. They don't call out misogyny and sexism when they hear it from others, or name it in themselves. Big picture, not enough men are speaking up about prioritizing gender gaps in leadership, in the world around them, and in even the mundane examples that affect their daily lives sometimes sight unseen--and not enough is changing.

For some reason we expect women to do this work, and to do it alone.

There are not enough men engaged as allies.

We would not expect people of color to eradicate racism alone. Nope.

We cannot expect that women to eliminate gender bias, sexism and misogyny alone either. We need strategic, planful efforts to engage men as allies and amplify their voices toward the change we seek.

Are you in? If yes, consider joining the Gender Equity in Hiring Project for a conversation about David Smith and Brad Johnson's book Good Guys, and some forward thinking about how to actually be those people in the world. Register in advance for this meeting:

Beginning with norms and aspirations, with Dr. Deitra Reiser at Symposium. We are here to be a little bit uncomfortable and listen, be responsible for our feedback and work from deep curiosity, to build our relationships together.

We all want to be "good guys." And when it comes to allyship, many of us try hard.

What does it take to show up as an ally, advocate and accomplice right now for the women and non-binary folks in our lives? For our partners, our colleagues, our employees and our supervisors? Join the Gender Equity in Hiring Project and members of our Male Allies Circles to be in dialogue around this text, to consider what it means to be a "good guy," the behaviors that we hope will best represent allyship in these changing times, and what we might need to do to lead in this moment.

We will consider interpersonal allyship, allying at work and in the systems that hold our workplaces and shape our home lives, too. We will operationalize what it means to live our values and ally, not just try to be good guys in our minds but to shift our behaviors and practices as we take risks to stand up for others.

While our frame will be allying for women and non-binary folks, this is the best of learning how to ally and advocate for others in general--how to disrupt and interrupt others' patterns of behavior in a number of different contexts. We will use Smith and Johnson's text as our starting point, and invite you to read it to whet your appetite for allyship.

Be with us--one week from today. June 13, 9am PT/12pm ET.

Thank you so much to Dimensions Consulting and our colleagues from the Women Dismantling Racism cohort for pushing us to learn and grow over the last 8 months. Being in the work and led into the work, guided and provoked to grow, invited to ally and shown what accompliceship might truly be as white women has been deeply transformational. Ask us about this work, what we have learned, and why it is that we have struggled with anti-racism, white supremacy culture and learning to mitigate our own biases and racist tendencies. It will be a joy and challenge to reflect with our community on what we learned and what we are still learning every day--because this is not today's work but every day's challenge as we strive to make the world a more equitable, fair and just place for everyone. Thank you to our dear friends and colleagues, to our facilitators and to our teachers for making the practice of our reflection ever more meaningful as we continue to grow.

Remember--taking time to examine and reflect on your racism, your responsibility, your biases, your mis-steps is not a pause from the work. It is the work. These are the words of Mary White Ovington, American socialist, suffragist, journalist, and co-founder of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, and if there were ever a time when we were in need of her teaching, it is now.

Elluminate ‘s CEO Melanie Roth Gorelick reminding us all that only 2% of all charitable giving is to support causes that amplify and care for the needs of women and girls. We know that this support is the foundation of healthy, just, inclusive and democratic society, and it is time to increase this number manifold.

Meredith Polsky of : how about we cocreate our spaces for real inclusion? What if we don’t ask someone with disabilities to speak because they have disabilities; we ask them because they are an expert in their subject matter, because they are a great speaker, because they own their content? We must not tokenize. So glad to see disability inclusion —visible and invisible disabilities—included in the dialogue about belonging. and Jewish Belonging Summit 2025

At the 2025 Jewish Belonging Summit envisioned and brought to fruition by our dear colleagues at and considering what it means to build coalitions across difference, listen with love and respect, be present and work together without having to agree, and ally truly. With a panel of voices that challenged us to think differently and might have made us uncomfortable, but invited us to listen: Rabbi Ayelet Cohen, Rabbi Sandra Lawson and Dr. Mijal Bitton, moderated by Rachel Gildiner.

Let us lead together toward a future where everyone belongs, where we create communities built on equity, on respect and justice, on true belonging. We look forward to struggling together to strengthen the relationships that are the foundation for true connection, so that those on the margins can be woven fully into the tapestry of our people.
