Herut North America

Herut North America Herut North America is a pro-Israel movement for Jewish sovereignty in all the Land of Israel and worldwide Jewish unity. Zion Unite!

Whether we identify as American Jews, Jewish Americans, Israeli Americans, or American Israelis, the Land of Israel plays a significant role in our identities as spiritual and physical descendants of the ancient Hebrews. For thousands of years, the Jewish soul has yearned to return to Zion, to our indigenous homeland; on May 14, 1948 this hope - this Tikvah - became reality. Just as the exodus fro

m Egypt was an arduous and painful process, the State of Israel and by extension the Israelite diaspora continues to struggle against challenges to Jewish sovereignty and freedom. In addressing the external and internal threats to Jewish liberation, Herut (meaning "freedom"), in the spirit of Zionist founding father Ze'ev Jabotinsky, seeks to do so with strength, pride, and care for all people. Herut North America is a Zionist movement that advocates Jewish sovereignty in all of Israel, Jewish unity, and Jewish-Zionist education for Jews of all ages. We embrace the diverse cultural backgrounds and religious affiliations of all Jewish people and commit to working together, unified as one people, for Jewish sovereignty in all of Israel and against all who deny Israel's right to exist. We do everything from Z to A: from Zionism to Aliyah. In this vein, Herut North America's essential activities involve assisting Jews of all backgrounds and origins to make Aliyah and integrate into Israeli society. Be it navigating through the absorption process, writing Hebrew resumes, accompanying them to government offices, or informing them of immigrant entitlements (higher education, Hebrew language programs, army service, and medical plans), Herut is here to provide them with the skills needed to adjust from a life in Galut (exile) to renewal in their homeland. Herut believes that to strengthen the Jewish State, we must reunite the people of Israel within their homeland to ensure our nation's continued security at home and abroad. With these values in mind, Herut North America's focus on impacting decision-making in the World Zionist Congress as an influential movement, is an investment in Israel's future and in our quest to guarantee the continued strength and success of the Jewish nation in truly being a light unto the nations.

The Real War Isn’t About Israel. It’s About Reality.

Much has been written about “narrative warfare”—the idea that modern conflicts are fought not only on battlefields, but through stories, images, headlines, hashtags, and public perception.

But we are facing something even more dangerous.

This is no longer a war of narratives.

It is a war on reality itself.

Shabbat Shalom.

For thousands of years, the Jewish people have faced every challenge imaginable—exile, persecution, discrimination, and war. Yet we are still here. Not because history was easy, but because our spirit was stronger.

Being Jewish has never been about taking the easy path. It has always been about resilience, family, faith, community, and an unwavering commitment to our identity and values.

This Shabbat, take pride in who you are and in the generations who came before us. Their strength lives on through us.

Tough Jews Live Longer.

Shabbat Shalom from all of us at Herut North America.

Today in Zionist History – June 5

Today marks the anniversary of the beginning of the Six-Day War, one of the most consequential events in modern Zionist and Israeli history.

On the morning of June 5, 1967, Israel launched a preemptive strike against Egypt after weeks of escalating tensions, military mobilization by neighboring Arab states, and the closure of the Straits of Tiran to Israeli shipping. The conflict quickly expanded to include Egypt, Jordan, and Syria.

In just six days, Israel achieved a decisive victory and gained control of the Sinai Peninsula, Gaza Strip, Judea and Samaria (the West Bank), the Golan Heights, and, most significantly for many Zionists, the reunification of Jerusalem under Jewish sovereignty for the first time in nearly 2,000 years.

“To be good Americans, we must be better Jews, and to be better Jews, we must become Zionists.” — Justice Louis D. Brandeis

Long before the founding of the State of Israel, Louis Brandeis understood that Jewish identity and civic responsibility were not competing values—they strengthened one another.

Brandeis believed that embracing Jewish heritage, values, and peoplehood made individuals better citizens, more engaged in their communities, and more committed to justice and democracy.

His words remain a powerful reminder that pride in our identity and dedication to our nation can go hand in hand.

Today, as Zionism is often misunderstood or misrepresented, Brandeis’ message continues to resonate: supporting the Jewish people’s right to self-determination is compatible with, and can even deepen, one’s commitment to the societies in which we live.

He warned European Jews to flee — years before the Holocaust. Almost no one listened. 🕍

Ze'ev Jabotinsky was one of the most polarizing figures in Jewish history. In the 1930s, he traveled across Europe delivering a single, urgent message: leave now, or face annihilation. He was mocked, dismissed, and called an alarmist by Jewish leaders who thought he was being dramatic.

He wasn't.

But Jabotinsky's legacy is far from simple. His Revisionist Zionism movement demanded a Jewish state on both sides of the Jordan River, built a paramilitary youth organization called Betar, and embraced a muscular, nationalist ideology that his critics compared to European fascism. David Ben-Gurion, Israel's founding father, called him "Vladimir Hi**er." His admirers called him a prophet.

Today, his ideas live on in Israeli politics in ways that still spark fierce debate. Was he a visionary who saw what others refused to see? Or did his movement plant seeds of an ideology that complicates Israel's story to this day?

It shows how truly uninformed most people are.

Boycott Spirals Out of Control: Pro-Palestinian activists in Brooklyn voted in favor of a boycott of Israeli products. As a result, stores began removing products imported from Israel, only to discover that many of the items taken off the shelves belonged to companies owned by Arab Israelis.
