Fr. Adam Spencer (Associate for Pastoral Care, Saint Thomas Church) will lead a Q&A with Burton on her latest book Strange Rites: New Religions for a Godless World. In it, Burton discusses the revival that American religious culture is undergoing as people remix spiritual traditions, rituals, and subcultures to create their own brands of religion. It's sure to be an engaging chat!
We invite your submission of questions for the Q&A when you register. We'll also leave time at the end for questions that come up during the course of the talk.
About Tara Isabella Burton
Tara Isabella Burton has written on religion, culture, and place for The New York Times, National Geographic, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, City Journal, The Economist's 1843, Aeon, The BBC, The Atlantic, Salon, The New Statesman, The Telegraph, and Vox. Her fiction has appeared in Granta, Vol. 1 Brooklyn, The New Yorker's Daily Shouts, Tor.com, PANK, et al. Burton currently writes a column for Religion News Service called "Religion Remixed" and is a contributing editor at The American Interest.
Burton's latest book Strange Rites: New Religions for a Godless World explores the rites and practices of the religiously unaffiliated from SoulCycle to witchcraft.
