A Blessed Feast of the Epiphany to each and all of you!

Here is an invitation to all from the Saint Thomas Church Young Adults Ministry and the Rev. Adam Spencer, Associate for Pastoral Care at Saint Thomas:

Join the STC Young Adults on Thursday, January 7, 2021, for a very special talk with author, journalist, and theologian, Tara Isabella Burton.

Fr. Adam Spencer (Associate for Pastoral Care, Saint Thomas Church) will lead a Q&A with Burton on her latest book Strange Rites: New Religions for a Godless World. In it, Burton discusses the revival that American religious culture is undergoing as people remix spiritual traditions, rituals, and subcultures to create their own brands of religion. It's sure to be an engaging chat!
We invite your submission of questions for the Q&A when you register. We'll also leave time at the end for questions that come up during the course of the talk.

About Tara Isabella Burton

Tara Isabella Burton has written on religion, culture, and place for The New York Times, National Geographic, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, City Journal, The Economist's 1843, Aeon, The BBC, The Atlantic, Salon, The New Statesman, The Telegraph, and Vox. Her fiction has appeared in Granta, Vol. 1 Brooklyn, The New Yorker's Daily Shouts, Tor.com, PANK, et al. Burton currently writes a column for Religion News Service called "Religion Remixed" and is a contributing editor at The American Interest.

Burton's latest book Strange Rites: New Religions for a Godless World explores the rites and practices of the religiously unaffiliated from SoulCycle to witchcraft. Burton received a doctorate in theology from Trinity College, Oxford, where she was a Clarendon Scholar, in 2017. Join the St. Jamesians (20s and 30s) for Compline + the Litany of Repentance Via Zoom this Wednesday (11/11) at 8 PM ET.

This online service gathering is offered every month, 2nd Wednesdays, at 8 PM ET via Zoom (on 2nd Wednesdays, Canterbury Downtown will gather with the St Jamesians and others online for Compline in place of weekly Wednesday community time in the Canterbury Downtown zoom room).
